Another year another FA Cup run!! and £3000 to play for. Yesterday took the opportunity to visit Poole Town v Alton Town in a Wessex League Premier League encounter Poole won 4 - 0. Poole Town have won the league in the last two seasons but not promoted due to ground standards, play to a decent standard and attract crowds well above level 9 standards.
The game itself saw Alton offer very little, but I suppose their goal tally tells its own story, F 9 against 23 after 6 games.!! On paper Sutton should...............but its the FA Cup and shocks do occur. I think the speed of Suttons forward play will be a telling factor. Spoke to a couple of Alton fans who are looking forward to a day out at Sutton, and said that Sutton had met Alton a few years ago not a game I recall, over to you MF.

Gutted we've got 'em at home. Away would have been great, getting to go on all the rollercoasters n'stuff!
Whaaaat? ;D
However having just had a look at their form, as Dof said, they're not great are they? Two 5-1 humpings and a 4-0 slap in 6 games. Although their only points came from two 3-3 draws.
Brad up front with Jolls, with Andre\Fola (injury permitting) down one side and Jerson down the other should be too much for 'em surely?

I'm hoping for a draw on Saturday. There's an excellent real ale pub near Alton station.

Agreed Taz although I can't help but remember, and I'll whisper this... Woodford. At least we beat 'em in the end I guess. Still overly looking forward to the game mind. I love a bit of FA Cup action.

Yeah shame we're not playing there. I don't know how far the ground is from the station, but Alton is the terminus for the Mid-Hants Railway (Preserved steam trains) but more important, there is a great pub close to the station called the Railway Arms. This pub is owned by the FFF Brewery and is a GBG regular. Beat me to it AA!

That's the place I had in mind! I believe the ground is quite close to the station, and on land owned by Coors (formerly Bass) brewery.

As a sobering thought ~ They beat Salisbury 2-0 in a pre-season friendly. They also drew 2-2 with Godalming, and we all know how we did against them ! CAUTION ADVISED....
