An excellent day out, with some enjoyable pre-match lubrication. I thought the game was a very good advert for Ryman League football, played in front of a vocal and appreciative crowd. At half time I observed that I'd just been watching the side that would win the title - and I didn't have Sutton in mind! After 90 minutes I wasn't quite so sure. Lowestoft were well-drilled and didn't have any obvious weaknesses - although they had no individual players who really caught the eye. They certainly had the better of the first half , with only a combination of the woodwork and some fine saves from Scriven keeping them out. In the second half we had a bit more of the ball, but the sending off changed the game. We then switched to a more defensive formation and held out for the point. I thought we looked quite comfortable with ten men, although Scrivs was called on to make one more great save in the dying minutes. In the last week we've played what on paper look our two most difficult matches of the season. One point isn't a great return, but to have only conceded one goal over those 180 minutes is still pretty impressive. We just need to start scoring again!

Today Matthew, I'll be mostly sounding like Barry White. Great day out, good company, good few beers, big crowd, great atmos in the ground. Shame we couldn't have nicked it really! Game was a bit scratchy I thought. Neither side really seemed to get any real momentum going, although 'Stoft certainly had the better of the 1st half and thanks to Scrivs, we went in level. Second half, we seemed to getting on top a bit, then Dundo's red card. Which TBH looked like both went in for it & their bloke stayed down. Ridiculous part was quite how long the ref took to get everything sorted out which led to the 8 minutes of injury time. Once Dundo was off though, the home side showed a lot of huff & puff and barring that late save from Scrivs, I think the 0-0 was about the right scoreline. Still, point away from home with 10 men for the last 20 mins, can't complain! We said on a couple of occasions that yesterday felt like one of the Conf South days out, long trip, few beers & friendly locals. I genuinely hope that the next time we go to Crown Meadow, that'll really be the case. Good to meet you & the guys OWF. Cheers for your hospitality & hopefully see you & the guys at our place in the new year.

not to be faced with any "hostility" at all ! Let me explain the "hostility" comment, because I wouldn't want to interfere with a terrace love-in. I meant that what you can get away with on a wet Tuesday in Hendon in front of 180 home fans, is not what you can get away with when 1,100 home fans (and that's assuming we had as many as 160) let out a cry of anguish when a tackle goes in. At this level, the ref will be swayed. I meant no criticism of the Trawlerboys, as I would hope that we have the same effect at Sutton.

Wasn't there so couldn't comment before - but I had 'assumed' this is what you meant, probably 'partisan' would have been clearer? Sounds like a great day out!

A well contested match with Scrivs outstanding in goal fr U's. The save from the header in the first half and the one from Forbes late on were fantastic.
After a good start from U's, the homeside bossed the first half and tbh, should have gone in a head. U's should have scored within a minute of the re-start and had their best spell of the match before Dundo's red card.
Now, we all know Dundo is not that type of player and I actually thought he got some of te ball. He did indeed also inflict some damage on their player though although there was no intent. If that was a red card, which you could argue it was, so was Forbes first minute challenge on Darren. Looking at the photo's he went over the top and that is off - no argument. I think that is why Dos was so angry when Dundo got the red.
Unfortunately, the ref lost it a tad after that and just booked anything that moved. Even so, a great point all considering; certainly we should be happier than Town are with theirs.

I think the Lowestoft fans are all lovely ;D Special thanks to all of them, especially those who gave me money. They were unbelievably generous - I believe I collected a total of £85 from Lowestoft fans. AMAZING!

Highlights of the Lowestoft match are now showing here on You Tube. I would also like to add to the positive comments regarding the Lowestoft fans. I set up to film the match at the back of the main stand right in amongst their season-ticket holders and took up the 'best view in the house', but I had no complaints whatsoever about my tripod & equipment taking up a couple of their favourite seats. Very friendly people and it was a pleasure talking to them before the kick-off and at Half-Time. The Club Secretary was also very helpful when I arrived. A very enjoyable day out, and that's what Non-League football should be all about.

Back to the game, and I think we will look back on this as a very good point later in the season. If we beat them at GGL, we will have the four points from two games that Dos was after against one of the teams who will surely be up there with us.
To not play at our best, lose a man to an iffy red card and still come away with a point (thank you Scrivs - Ryman's No1 etc etc) was not bad at all and I agree with much of the above in that it was also a good day out and the Lowestoft fans I met before, during and after the game were all great.
Defence stood strong all afternoon so well done for that.
