It seems the Bromley fans have a different view Definitely a case of two points dropped, we should have been 3 up at half time despite the fact we were lucky to be awarded the penalty (the ref compensated for that decision for the rest of the game though!). We were good first half, and the only complaint was the lack of cynicism in front of goal. For much of the 2nd half it was poor though and the removals of Williams and Adeniyi were long overdue after they lost themselves in the 2nd period after they'd both had good first halves. Ultimately Moore and McDonnell combined to salvage a point. I would have been livid had we lost today, S*tton were ****, they could barely keep the ball in play, let alone get any good moves together and other than a wonderful first goal and more woeful defending from a set piece on our part they did nothing all game. In the 2nd half we not only sank to their level but didn't even look very interested in winning it, failing to finish off any moves quite often by rushing and putting in poor quality crosses, Sam Wood being the main culprit, much as I hate to criticise him. Agree partially with the above comments on Mcleary, he came close to scoring two nearly impossible, stunning goals, then missed a couple of sitters, frustrating, then again so was the whole sorry afternoon. S*tton were a team we really should have beaten and I think many will this season (how the mighty have fallen: Gangreen Lane looks really run-down and their support seems to have halved since we last played there). On balance, our first three games have brought three ok results, nothing good, nothing particularly bad...all in all that suggests to me that midtable is where we'll be. If we couple that with good runs in the main cup competitions it would be good enough for most, but will it be good enough for the management? 4 points out of the bank holiday weekend may reignite some more lofty ambitions but we will have to see.

Rose tinted glasses comes to mind OK Jade, I have been watching football long enough to know what I see and am happy to back it, so if you think you are right state your figure I will match it? All in good fun obviously but I am serious if you want to take the bet, the money can go to charity if you like?

Thought it was a decent performance, but i wouldn't go as far as to say we were the better team. Thought the defence was immense, Scooby was a good choice for motm, and they needed to be because Bromley did put us under a lot of pressure for long spells of the game. However, saying that they didn't create that many oppertunities and the one's they did create bar one were easily dealt with by the defence and Wilson. When we went forward i thought we looked quite dangerous, Montague is getting better by the game. Watkins' goal was rather nice, especially because it came from nothing really. I did think McBean was anonymous for to much of the game, but he did look good at points, and it's great to see him on the scoresheet. The most dissapointing aspect of today's game was throwing the lead away the way we did, but there are positives to take away from our performance today, hopefully we'll get all the points at Weston next weekend.
Bromley on the other hand, really unimpressed me, wasting possesion like it's going out of fashion. Judging by today's performance i think talk of them challenging for the top of this divsion is rather fanciful, although i was quite impressed by their number 5. And was it me, or were they time-wasting when they were 1-0 up?

It seems the Bromley fans have a different view ......only complaint was the lack of cynicism in front of goal.Enough said, WTF??! Lots of numpties from Bromley slagging us off, they have a real chip on their shoulder about us, it's quite flattering in a sense but also best ignored. 'Cynicism in front of goal' erm, ok then, nurse! Secondly, I think 'Jade' is Ringstead and I claim my five pounds.

Sorry "Jade", you're coming across as quite bitter now, and it's actually getting on my nerves considering you haven't seen us play this season.
As for today, I thought we were good for a point. They had most of the possession but only seemed to create half-chances more than anything. We're getting there slowly. but we need 4 points out of the next two games at an absolute minimum.
As for them, considering the amount of money they are rumoured to be spending, they were ok, but nothing more than that. Mind you, if that's the best they can do for their "Cup Final", then they can forget about going up this year. Same old story though....the money they are paying in wages is not sustainable (allegedly £800 a week for a centre-back for starters) so I think we all know what will happen to them in the long run.

Intersesting to see the Bromley point of view. Craig Watkins had two great chances before they had done anything in the game, so how they could have been three up at ht is beyond me. Both sides missed chances so everything was evened out. We gave them both their goals, conceding a penalty & a goalkeeping error while we scored two good goals.
I suspect Bromley to improve as they get used to the higher level but they didn't look that great & both sides were guilty of failing to keep the ball on the pitch - now I wonder if that anything to do with the strong breeze blowing towards the Colingwood Rd end.
As for the ground, well Hayes Lane was falling apart for years until the recent regime turned up with a pot of cash. Oh what short memories some people have.
Still at least their support did what they should do this time around & get behind their side rather than trying to wind up the home fans. It was a good noisey following & no problems. Well done to them for that.
I thought it was a good game, evenly contested & 2-2 was about right.

First game of the season for me - definitely better than some of the dross from last season!! Have to agree with some of the other postings that Bromley created far more chances than the U's - that said this could be a good squad. Scarb's (as always) had a good one, PW's gaff at the end was a shocker - also, was it me, or did Craig W have a bit of a limp going off? we lack punch as it is when WMcB has one of his quieter days... Overall - should be happy with the draw

Anyone relying on Teletext for results must have been bemused last night. Ceefax decided the result was 1-1, but Teletext disagreed and gave it as 3-3. Then today's Non League Today (the new one) decided it was 2-2, but with goals from McBean and Watkins (2) for us and Hockton and Moore (2) for them . Mind you, our official site gives the second Bromley goal as being scored in the 91st minute (bet someone edits that now) .

Maybe I didn't see the game as a few others did? I agree over 90mins the draw was about right, but what I saw was a decent start from the Us followed by a very dubious penalty which appeared to knock our confidence for about 25 mins in which time Bromley were well on top. CW's goal came after a little spell of pressure from us and the game seem to change when Us started to close down the Bromley backs and midfielders higher up the pitch. Bromley's passing starting going astray. From the CW goal to the Warren goal I don't think Bromley had a decent effort on goal, and Sutton looked most likely to get the winner. Although I guess that its probably right to say second half was not as good as the first football wise but that is because Sutton got their tactics spot on and it denied Bromley space forced them into giving the ball away time and time again.
Our forward play was not really as coherent as it could have been with many moves breaking down due to lack of understanding which is understandable with a new look team. Our defence looks solid and we withstood pressure from Bromley then turned the tables on them. I think we have more gears to go through then we have seen and reckon this is the best side we have had since 03/04 with a better defence.

Sorry about the timing, meant to put 81 minutes for their goal. Actually thought the referee blew for full time a little early.
