So nice of the FA to back 'Non League Day' earlier in the season what with there being no top 2 divs or Internationals on the saturday, only to go & then arrange a chuffing international for 3pm on a saturday later that same season. Tits.
With one hand they giveth.....

The FAW wanted the Saturday 3pm kick off to maximize revenue from the part timers crawling out for the England game.
It ruins my perfect season at Sutton but there you go.

As long as there is drink I don't mind.

Ah the classic Club V Country thread that pops up every year.
Same question, same answer - Club. Everytime. Especially this year, when it really could mean something most of us have wanted for a long time - WINNING something. And winning the biggest prize realisitically open to us this year.

This year we are on our way to wining the league! England might not embarrass themselves. No choice really . Beats some qualification game any day.

Canvey have already cried off changing the KO time. Not that it matters to me as I'll be in Cardiff ruining my perfect season at Sutton to watch Wales. I don't think you'll find we've cried off, we were well up for staying and watching the game in your clubhouse!! I've been told that due to other events taking place at your ground that the kick off will be 3pm and was not changeable...

That is correct, although I'm not sure why that means we couldn't have changed the time earlier on. Not that I'm bothered except that it will affect the gate.

Its because there are a number of invited dignities including the Mayor and Local MP, they are coming for pre match din-dins, and they cannot very well have that at 10am

We did consider it and spoke to Canvey officially quite some time ago, Canvey advised me that they would not want an earlier kick-off - I would hasten to add that this doesn't mean crying off. We were already leaning towards keeping KO as 3pm and this merely made the decision easy.
I don't know where medibot has got that turn of phrase from but it wasn't from this official horse's mouth!

I used that turn of phrase as I'd heard we'd considered an early kick off and then it was put down as 3pm so I assumed Canvey had taken up their right to refuse to play earlier than the original kick off.
Since they are not exactly hundreds of miles away had they just not fancied getting up early I would consider it crying off.
Happy to proven wrong!
