Bob Willis played 34 first class and 32 one day games for Surrey taking 96 and 49 wickets respectively.
Despite being flown out to Australia as a replacement for Alan Ward on the recommendation of John Edrich his first team opportunities at The Oval were blocked by Robin Jackman and Geoff Arnold so he left for Warwickshire.
He also played in goal for Corinthian Casuals and Guildford.

Bob was a guest in our boardroom last year and we chatted about when he played against us for Casuals. I can remember listening to the radio under the bed covers when he made his England debut and also ten years later, on a canal boat, when he took those 8 wickets. As Billy said, very sad.

Quite some opening pace attack they now have "on the other side" as he joins "Picca" who left us a few years ago. One of my earliest sporting memories was "that" Ashes series, and "that" Test at Headingley.
As has been said, sadly missed. R.I.P.

Terrible news, can't believe we won't see again on the 'verdict' he made the show with his constant moaning about the 'white ball game. Still got his humble pie verdict on the sky box following the 3rd test victory vs the Aussies. I saw him bowl in 81 vs Pakistan at the Oval as well.
RIP Big Man

It's nice that Billy initially put this post on this thread but maybe Bob Willis deserved his own
Rest in peace. Legend.

Bob initially played for Stoke D”Abernon.
What a player. Ashes 1981. Although it was Botham’s Ashes Bob played a massive part. Will be sorely missed

I can clearly remember Bob being in goal for Casuals at GGL around 1970 and not being a bad keeper. Next season another Surrey cricketer Graham Roope was in goal. They still finished bottom every season ..

24th October 1970. Sutton won 3-0. Apparently Bob kept the score line to a respectable level.

Even with Sky's fantastic coverage, it can't match the excitement of listening to Australia collapse as England won the Christmas Test in 98.

The title is wrong, this is surely the best! Glenn McGrath asked Zimbabwe’s Eddie Brandes “Why are you so fat?” and Brookes replied “Because every time I **** your wife, she gives me a biscuit.”
