And i was one of those mentalists who went up there.
The good news. 2-0 win, over 3 grand in the kitty and a tie away to Lewes Bad news - Honey went off in the first half, suspected broken ribs
First half was just a continuation of saturday, we were not playing well, and not taking our chances. 2nd half was odd, for about 20 mins Woodford were the better team, we were hoofing and totally lost direction. Then Woodford began to tire, Craig took 2 good chances, first from a header from a freekick, 2nd after some good buildup, and a dropped ball from the keeper.
We are through, our first FA cup win since Maldon town in Sept 05, and our first away from home since (frakey fill in here please).
There were a good number of us up there, bearing in mind you couldn't get back if you didnt have a car or lift!
Woodford were up for it, but eventually we showed we were 2 divisions higher. Still a LOT of work to go, and on tonights performance we will be tonked by Lewes, but lets just enjoy the fact we are still in the cup....

Got in a short while ago and currently enjoying a pre-beddy num nums cuppa. God that was painful to watch!!! Overall, the performance saturday was far far better, but then again, they showed a lot more adventure being the home side and gave it a real go. Having said that, they created very little again and I think Gareth was only really called into action twice over the 90 mins. We were very poor for a lot of the game and struggled to find any rythm at all, especially in the first half. Second 45 was marginally better in that we at least posed more of a threat. Thankfully, when a half chance came our way, Craig popped up to put it away. Still, as one U's fan I spoke to on the phone as we were leaving said "We're in the results business at the moment". And thats really all you can say about tonight, we got the result. There was little else to encourage TBH. Also, seems like Ug may have busted ribs in the first half. He looked in a lot of discomfort as he walked round after coming off.

Just got back from Woodford - about 15 of us made it there! TBH it was a very poor game (worse than Saturday's), with neither side able to establish any rhythm. Until we scored, Woodford probably had the better chances - but couldn't finish. Ironically it was an injury to Paul Honey (suspected broken ribs ) that helped to turn things in our favour. His replacement Craig Watkins, who'd had a poor game on Saturday and so started on the bench, injected pace into the Sutton attack. His first goal was a far post shot after a free kick had been headed on by Bray and Buari. His second was what looked a mis-hit after a strong Sutton break down the right left their keeper grounded when he failed to get the ball off Buari. I don't think the watching Steve King will have seen too much to worry him - but at least we're through to the next round and can bank some much-needed cash.

A result we definitely should not get carried away with. Woodford outpassed us for considerable periods of a match that we were once again expected to dominate but did not perform in. Too many "passes" went astray and we lacked any sort of physical presence.
Woodford had just had their impressive new clubhouse opened officially last week - an event which saw the Coventry Cup Final winning team of '87 play an exhibition match there!!
More comments on the game tomorrow when I'm a bit more awake!

Our boys have come good - finally. All done at 2-0. Full-time. Any talk of coming good, turning corners etc is sadly misplaced. This was an awful performance, worse than Saturday, only redeemed by the (not inconsiderable) fact that we won. We created few chances. The first goal came from our first decent move with barely 15 minutes left in the match. The 2nd goal came on the break when we had 3 v 2, but we still nearly cocked it up, their keeper unlucky that his block fell to Watkins. Honey was massive until his injury (could be a major loss), Scooby was reliable and Hudson looks good at either full or centre back. The rest look like Ryman players, which is where we are going to be if there isn't a major improvement in either approach or personnel (or both). This is looking like it's going to be the first Sutton team to be playing three levels below the Football League since 1963.

Another mentalist who travelled. Not the most inspiring of performances, infact the general feeling was that we were heading towards disaster untill Watkins scored his 1st. Indeed Woodford could of gone 1-0 up not long before hand, but fortunatly they couldn't convert their chances. Was really impressed by Watkins tonight, he played as though he had something to prove, but generally the performance wasn't quite there. Still a win is a win.

Yet another mentalist. Thank you to all those who couldn't make it and said nice things about us I can't really disagree with anything that's been said so far. The game was very difficult indeed to watch for 90 minutes. And as soon as I go for a cup of tea we go and score! Craig Watkins was definitely the player who stood out for me as one making an effort. I suspect this is because he was dropped and was determined to earn back his place in the side. Unfortunately we will only start playing well when players look like they really want to perform well for their team and their club rather than for personal gain. I really hate to say this, but sometimes certain players do not look as if they are playing for the sake of their club. I hope we as supporters can help give them something to be proud of in being part of SUFC. However, I don't want to end on a negative note. We at least didn't give up on the game tonight like we have done in recent matches (or Craig didn't give up anyway and it's fair to say a lot of the other players didn't either). That's been a big problem lately- giving up before the end.

I'm a bigger nutter than the lot of you Just got home, having zoomed back to London in the rocket (a.k.a Andy K's Alfa 164) i missed a train by a minute and then the next one was stupidly delayed, add to that the twenty minute walk from the station and you get a 2am arrival back at home! Two positives from today really, the wedge and Watkins getting the goals that i think will set him off for the season. The game itself was terrible, Woodford had every chance to spring a shock but due to time-wasting from the off and wasteful attempts at scoring they didn't and eventually the glimmer of class in the Sutton team won through. Malik had a strong finish to the game and i hope he keeps it up, it isn't pretty but we need lumps and physical bastards to get us out of this. Oh how i wish Joffy was still about to give us some balls and strength and experience and goals and everything else we need to get more of

Just to repeat my congratulations to all that made the game last night. and well done to the team for getting a win.
As I said on an earlier thread, Craig W looked as gutted as we were on Saturday, perhaps that showed in his performance!

I see the record was broken for most users online last night. 52.
Little bit of history as well as a result.

Medibot suggests a re-union of the Woodford '15' next year in the Times Square lounge. Mr Miller will have to re-enact the 'going for a piss behind the small bit of covering after 30 mins' act...
