2008, yes, snowed on my birthday. As it did on the day I was born. My Dad always thought that was a bad omen.

One answer may be to start the SSC earlier if that's possible. A winter break is a stupid idea and can't possibly work

If the winter decides we need a break then the winter will deliver it. Whether it's in October or march. Anything else is just propaganda.

Starting the SSC (or any county cup) earlier does sound like a good idea actually. It tends to cause fixture problems over the winter, which could be one contributory reason why some clubs field weaker sides than they would for other games, thus arguably lowering the quality of the competition (although I still love it; good old SSC, it's like the Royal Mail or British weather). 2008, yes, snowed on my birthday. As it did on the day I was born. My Dad always thought that was a bad omen. My mum remembers snow on her birthday (also in April) when she was quite young. Maybe that was the year you were born!

Could be worse, remember when the SSC final was always played on an Easter Monday?

With Chelmsford v Dorchester going ahead this evening (4-0 to Chelmo), their games having both survived the weather on Saturday, we've now played fewer league matches (20) than any other side in Conference South.

And yet again Kyle Vassell was on the scoresheet, like he was on Saturday. He's now scored double the amount of goals he had when he was here in around half the number of games. (4 goals in 7 games compared to 2 goals in 13!)

With the Maidenhead match off, we've now got to play 22 league games - plus at least one in the SSC - in less than 13 weeks. The backlog is eight matches - 6 home, 2 away.
It's all starting to look a bit desperate.

If Eastleigh goes on Saturday, I make it that we will have to play midweek every week until the end of the season. We lose anymore after that, then we have problems...

Don't forget the SSC. You including that?
EDIT: Amber Aleman did so presumably you did too - sorry!

If we think ours is bad, Guernsey have only played 16 league games and only 1 since the 1st December!!! They are already having to play friday sunday and still have at least 1 FA vase game to fit in!!!

Presuming that the Welling match happens on Tuesday, now that the Hayes and Yeading game is now in April, that leaves us with 2 free Tuesdays - last one in February (which presuming Molesey and Colliers Wood ever managed to play could well end up being a SSC game) and the last Tuesday before the end of the season. If we are forced to play an SSC game instead of a league fixture, then that one will go too.
Now it's getting close to 3 matches a week...

Apparently, the SSC takes NO preference over Conference fixtures so Molesey or us visit GGL on Thursday 21st Feb (not regarded as a midweek night by the SCFA)!
