Just so long as the ref doesn't give us a penalty and then says, "Ha, ha, only joking! April Fool!" 😊

It stays at 2-1, BW's defeat confirms Welling's play-off spot (st least) Truro's fight is over, and they are relegated

Hard game in a difficult wind. Just about hung on to the 3 points, Wood missed 2 or 3 decent chances at 2-1. Good to get 3 points. The referee for the 2nd consecutive home game was terrible and you have to wonder about the guy's motives for the decisions today. New lad from Bromley is a good player, excellent signing.

Yes. IMO the standard of officiating at this level is the biggest single turnoff factor when I'm deciding whether to go to a game or not. I say 'officiating' because today the linesman on the Main Stand side wouldn't have been able to flag for a free kick if his life had depended on it.

With the combination of the biting wind and the strong opposition pound for pound I would put this down as one of our best wins of the season and after the brave ten man fight back at dover it wrapped up a great Easter for the U's which consolidates our position in this league. The thing with Boreham Wood is what you see is what you get. A strong, big and well organised side and I was a bit concerned that the conditions might suit them better than us so getting the three points is a real result as BW have given little away this season. I don't want to spend a lot of time bemoaning the officials but jeez some times it's hard. Uneven throughout and capped with the comedy gold of the Lino flagging for offside, stopping his run and the play and the ref who was miles away overruling him. You don't even get that in the little league when the fat dads are in control. Anyway, great opening goal as Harry b, who was superb all game, carved them open and folksy got the first of what I hope will be many goals in an amber shirt. I was urging them to keep the ball on the deck first half as the big wood lads looked uncomfortable with anything low and at pace and we were good value for the lead. The second half was a right old ding dong. Potentially we had the wind advantage but wood definitely upped there game and it was up and down the pitch. We still looked strong pushing on with Marv and dundo linking up well with h, folkes and the two lads holding in midfield. Never easy to break down the wood defence mind and the second goal was sheer persistence with Harry finishing well under pressure. That was never going to be the whole story and so it proved. Woods goal was a great finish drilled in from the right but I thought there lad had a bit too much time to pick his spot. Then for about ten minutes it all went a bit Titus for us and we were wobbling a bit as BW gave us some welly but despite contriving to put ourselves under pressure with some iffy defending on two or three occasions we held out and by the end we were pushing forward as wood seemed to run out of steam. Anyways great performance and if this is about laying the foundations for next season I am happy as it looks like good decisions have been made in terms of the squad. Plenty more to be done mind but the direction looks right.

Felt a tad sorry for our lads today. At times they could have been forgiven for thinking they were playing 12 men such was the dreadful performance by the referee. Christ knows how many times he gave the visitors free-kicks but ignored similar challenges on U's players. He even over ruled his assistant when not in any position to do so. This wasn't a Sunday club linesman, it was a neutral official. I'd say Sunday was about this ref's level ( but that would be staining the reputation of some of us better officials ha ha).
A vey good three points against good, strong opposition in dificult conditions. While Wood never hit the heights of their early season performance at Broughinge Road, they were still one of the more competent sides. They were undone by two superbly well worked goals. At 2-0 you would hope that was it but we switched off at a corner and Wood got a goal back. I thought our midfield and defence were v good again today & Dundo was a giant up front against two big defenders. Marv had a hand in both goals providing a fine pass for Harry B to score the all important second.
Well done to both sides for having to play in difficult conditions and proving a decent game. Well done to U's for overcoming a truly awful refereeing performance, he made the bloke we had at Dover on Sat look brilliant.
Four points off two play-off contenders and but for what appears to be an erroneous lino's flag on Sat it would have been 6. I'll take the four though, a very good return.

I have to agree about these refs, I just don't understand some of their decisions? Its notable that the majority of red cards and cautions we have seen recently have been for technical or handbags offences rather then proper fouls and feet (albeit one foot) 2 foot off the ground? I think its fair to say that recent officials have spoilt games and do the task of getting punters to return more difficult.
Credit to both sides for a proper football match unlike Weston who unfortunately profited from our win today, which seems a bit unfair on Wood. Overall I thought the match was evenly balanced with neither side ever being in complete control, we probably shaded possession with them chances.
I have to give MOTM to Dundo who was everywhere and who we now know was denied a onside against Dover. JF continues to impress me, and I am sure he is going to be a big part of next season which is shaping up well. We could have had 3pts on Saturday and 1 today instead of the other way around but 4pts over Easter is what we deserved and against good sides too.

Just goes to show what a frustrating time it's been at Sutton this season. A superb easter weekend where we got 4 very good points out of 6 against tough teams in difficult circumstances, and we let ourselves down by awful performances against Truro and Farnborough. If we'd performed anything like we have in the last 2 games in those games we'd be knocking on the play off doors by now.
Back to today and this side is coming together well - and its great to know that the core of today's team are already signed for next season. Apart from giving away a goal straight after we scored our 2nd (not the first time that's happened this season) we worked hard, and 2 goals came from 2 really good moves - there was a fluidity in our playing leading up to both of those.
From a side that is still "coming together" as it were, the last two games have been really impressive. Imagine what it will be like after a full pre season together.
