Bearing in mind the form guide a Hornchurch win seems nailed on!

Great entertaining game and a superb three one victory where some profligacy in front of goal saw us dig deep at the end to crush the hornys. The first five mins probably had more action that the first hour of the away fixture which seems a long time back now. Dundo went close right from the off and Marv looked a sure bet when clean through but screwed it over from a tight angle. The first goal came when there keeper probably should have dealt better with a long range shot but instead pushed it into the path of h who buried it. We were playing some fine stuff down the channels with Ali bossing the middle as we've got used to. Marv looked through on goal although some way out when he was crudely brought down. Could easily have been a straight red but I suspect the ref was weighing up similar appeals from afc for a rentsy challenge a bit earlier and it was yellow. To be honest we could well have had the game wrapped by the whistle.
Second half they came out battling for their lives and it was a wide open contest with both sides pushing forwards which made for some decent entertainment in the sun. Some extraordinary goal mouth scrambles at there end and a dundo shot off the post after a trade mark bullying run left us wondering how it was still just one nil. Up the other end a long throw travelled across the edge of the box and a spectacular finish buried it bottom corner for one one against the run of play. Cue sutton upping it another gear and the charge was on.
The killer goal when it came was from a rentsy charge into the box, a superb ball across and at last Marv on the end of it. Still time for young Rhys to pick up a bouncing ball half way out, and hurtling in he cut into the box and put away a superb finish of his first sutton goal. Nice one son. As we always used to say when having a crack at the ladies down at Clouseaus back in the day , an outside chance is better than no chance at all. What a great run we've had as the season draws to a close. Many reasons to be cheerful.

Yes. Felt kinda sorry for Hornchurch as I thought they tried to play properly, and managed to battle back well, but in the end were comfortably beaten by a better side. It looks like this result has relegated them today, and there are other teams I'd rather had gone down.

Another fine summary from Mr BT above. I tought we playe some great football on a drying & therefore bumby surface. Should have been two goals to the good before their 'keper spilled a shot and Harry was on hand to pounce for the lead.
Urchins main threat came from set pieces and the long throw (has Big Jimy McFarlane sired a family of footballers - they had some big guys out there?) and at time during the afternoon, U's struggled to defend them.
From one such long throw, Wayne Gray scored with a marvellous over head effort. With both tems needing a win, Urchins the more so, the game opened up. At times, the Hornchurch box resembled a pinball game as they survived some huge scares. Eventually Sam Rents burst into te box and his left footed drive was urned in by Marv at the far post.
The third came from a break away and Rhys M-W belied his youth and inexperience with a wonderful run, cutting inside onto his favoured left foot before finishing with some considerable class.
If U's had doubled the three they scored, it would not have flatterd them as they carved out so many openings. Urchins could count on good last gasp defending, brave 'keeping and a slice of luck that they did not concede more. Impressed with their young left back and Gray was solid and deserved his goal. But U's were just too good in all departments and Urchins must wait for the midweek matches to see if their BSS experience is to be extended for a second seson or that their home match with Hayes is to be meaningful.
Ref today made a chump of himself on a few occasions but as he was only down to run the line originally, I suppose some cutting of slack is due.
The Play-Offs do look 3pts too much for U's now but let's keep this going. A victory over Salisbury, who still have a very outside chance of the title, will prove a gret test on Monday and hopefully attract a gate that U's football of recent weeks deserves.

Was a little worried it was going to be 'one of those days' when we contrived to miss a couple of sitters and their goal lived a charmed life. Great to get the thoroughly deserved win. Pitch could prob do with a little more water. Didn't help our midfielders with the oppo towering above them and the ball bouncing around in there. Nevertheless we created lots of clear cut chances. Shame the other results didn't go well but we were always relying on others and knew our chances were slim. Salisbury will be a good test of where we are, interesting game. Hope we can keep playing and enjoying this end to the season. Another disappointing turn out bearing in mind recent form. Surprised they brought so few given the importance of the game to them.

Not yet they haven't! Little to add to the above, the better team won but football is a funny old game and the odds on victory looked in doubt with 10 mins to play. Credit to Hx for working hard and hanging in there and providing a good honest performance, I thought they were far better then H&Y. I thought we looked a little tired early in the second half and some of our passing from the back wasn't as good as recently. Having said that we should have been 3 or 4 up by halftime, had Marv's effort gone in we may have needed to edit the goal of the season video The bumpy pitch hindered us but I think it was what cost Hx the first goal as the ball took a little bounce just before the keeper got his hand to it. Hx had to press in the 2nd half and they made the changes leaving them light at the back. Wayne Gray who likes scoring against us got the equaliser during Hx best spell of the match. Dos countered with the right subs and even with a very good save, the post and numerous ping pong scrambles in front of the Hx net, we found an even higher gear and finished them off with 2 top drawer goals. Monday will be a real test for us, Salisbury have to win or the title goes to Welling, the playoffs are just out of reach for us now but a victory in our last 2 games might have the odds tumbling on next season's champs???

Someone needs to get onto the Welling forum and get some of their lot to come down on Monday and support the U's - We did at Cray a couple seasons back!

I can't see many Welling Fans turning up at our place on Monday night, wissh ful thinking tho....

A great display of football today, and great conditions to watch it it! Even better, to top the day off, meeting some of the S.U.F.C players from '63 in the V.I.P lounge after the game.
All to follow in the Gandermonium.com update at some stage on Sunday.

Hilarious comments on The Urchins Forum, could have been written by the bloke who writes their home reports in the NLP. Dissing our ground, saying it's the worst in the BSS. Well, news for them just in, the worst viewing ground in the BSS is Hornchurch's. It only has two sides unless you happen to have a pair of powerful binoculars and just one small standing area on one of those sides.
Hopefully, we won't have to go there next season and just for once I hope Angels do the necessary and relegate The Urchins. Bridge Road is awful, even the showers don't work half the time, ask Dos.
