There's a town near Birmingham called Sutton Coldfield, it's referred to as Sutton by the locals, that's where this mob are based.
I met a Birmingham fan on holiday one year and we had a very confusing conversation about the pubs in each of our own Sutton's (very drunk about 3-4am) before working out we were talking about different places!

I think there's a 'Sutton' near Hull as well?

Thee is a Sutton in Ashfield too (near Mansfield I think) they were once known as Sutton United before becoming Sutton Town. I think they may have folded.

I read somewhere that Sutton is the most common placename in the UK (if you include combinations of names like Kings Sutton, which is near Banbury). Also isn't Sutton Saxon for 'South Town'? Hence the popularity

A good team to play in a pre-season game, Sutton United vs Sutton United!

I once got reasonably far into chatting up a girl who after the usual "What's your name and where do you come from?" formalities thought that I was from Sutton Coldfield (and therefore very near to where she lived) as opposed to Sutton in London. I was very disappointed to find out that I lived nowhere near her!

Also isn't Sutton Saxon for 'South Town'? Hence the popularity Close - Sutton derives its name from "Sudtone" which translated means south farm - probably just as popular as town!!!
