My view is that the Surrey Senior Cup is now just an opportunity to give a run out to those first team squad members needing a game and a chance to look at decent up and coming players in the reserves/youth team. As a competition it is dead. I fail to see any club above Ryman South taking it at all seriously. So while nice to have it and use as we wish as a comp I don't see any value whatsoever attached to it. Appreciate this may not be a view adopted by traditionalists used to watching when it was a decent cup with the associated crowds. Wouldn't miss it in the slightist if we didn't enter.

After the last 4 seasons, I'm inclined to agree with Gareth. We've made the final 3 times out of 4 and failed each time. Yes it would be nice to win it, but our priority is to actually challenge for Conference Premier status. The fact that many games in the earlier rounds means the club loses money after paying for expenses only reinforces that view in my opinion.

The SSC does throw up the occasional game to look forward to, Tuesdays game being a good example. And we must remember there is £2000 for the winners. Last years final was a big disappointment on many levels. Let's win it this year and test out a few fringe players in the process ?

I can't find anything to look forward to in Sutton reserves versus probably K's reserves (given that they have a chance of promotion)in a micky mouse cup. I don't even care if we lose and go out of the competition. If the crowd breaks 100, it will only be because K's supporters have a fixation about us. Mind you, I'll be at Palace v Wet Sham, so I won't have to watch it!

While I would not agree with the sentiments in this thread, generally, this season it maybe not a bad idea to not have a County Cup run. Having said that if we won, we'd play Ash and their sec is a top bloke. And a win over Ash would start to make the final a possibility. Having said that, a final may confuse the play-offs should we be in them.
I would add that I am a County Cup fan mainly for the reason it was the first thing I saw U's win. And still remember that night at Fetcham Grove over 43 years ago very well.

If we got to the final and it was scheduled between two playoff legs then I would have no problem with us putting a team made entirely of reserves. However I quite enjoy the SSC (Don't know why tbh)and would like to see us do well this year.

Good grief! Probably about the 5th or 6th Sutton game for me, and followed the draw at Dulwich Hamlet's ground (was it 0-0 or 1-1? Didn't miss a match for 4 years after that.

I said it about the FAT and as we've not won for a while it's possibly more poignant. A win's a win no matter what competition it is and it'll help build momentum.
Oh and it's the Goddamn SSC so show some enthusiasm or feel the rath of Duke!
Any plans to reduce enry cost?

To put the SSC debate into context I'd rather watch the under 15's on a wet Sunday morning on the collingwood than the relegation dog fight between the Croydon posers and the porn merchants.

Last night's Surrey Senior Cup final was won by Woking 6-0 against Met. Police - they're up to 12 now, creeping up on our total of 15!
