I went into GGL today and had a look at the pitch and spoke to Clive, the club have had it vertically drained and there is no standing water. The pitch looks good but no one is actually stepping onto the surface so how firm it is not easy to tell. Everything that can be done has been done with @24hrs drying time to come before the forecast rain hits. I am not as despondent as I was before I saw the pitch and it all depends on that rain tomorrow night

Could be a further issue too - Gosport play at North Ferriby (near Hull for those of you who don't know) in the Trophy on Saturday. If that is called off for bad weather (or it's a draw) it will be scheduled to be played again on Tuesday. And we know who Gosport are due to play on Tuesday.....
It comes as no surprise that this January has been the wettest for 100 years, and had more than double the amount of rain than the seasonal average.

I'd say the prospects are zero following tonight's down pour ! Statistically that cannot be true as there is a chance of any event occurring so I will upgrade your forecast to 0.01% chance of the match going ahead. Put into context Katie Price has 0.02% chance of becoming our next queen or being discovered to be a man

Katie Price is a man, never!
When I saw the pitch this morning I thought it needed watering! Scuba football anyone (;

For those not in the borough, it's been raining here since 5pm with heavy downpours around 7pm, but at very minimum constant light rain since, and it's still going. The weather forecast is for it to stop about now with a sunny and breezy day tomorrow, with the odd shower around kick off.
With the amount of standing water there is out there now (I'm about a mile from the ground) I'd say the the 1030 pitch inspection will be largely academic, and another game will fall victim to the weather. I do, as well as many others on here I suspect, hope I'm wrong.

Postponed! Multitude of swear words! I'm actually on my way over. Lesson - never trust the symbols on the BBC 4-day forecast when booking a coach ticket

In theory a good drying morning under any normal circumstances but with a217 looking more like a river yesterday evening the ground round here will be waterlogged for some time to come a I fear. The forecast for next week is shocking as well. I can't remember anything quite like this and it's crucifying non league football. Only local game still on far as I can see is chipstead again thanks to the chalk hills My daughters not had a game for nearly two months now. Thoroughly depressing all round. Can't remember a proper hard frost yet this winter only a couple of mornings with a bit of ice on the windscreen. Just rain every bleeding day

Was it the 2000/2001 season where we had so many games called off we ended up the season only playing 41 games instead of 42?
4 games still on - involving teams around us (Ebbsfleet V Weston being the key one) but at 4.50 today at least we'll still be in 4th.
