Perfect example as to why speculative tweets / forum posts days before the match with implied insider knowledge / own 'pitch inspections' are unhelpful at best. I hope not too many made 'other plans' based upon recent output from some quarters. Well said. Those of you know read my posts know that I reserve particular disdain to any implied insider knowledge because 99% of the time it has a negative impact on the club whilst only to act as a sad self serving act on the part of the poster. In this case I'm sure that others had made plans based on what speculation on what was posted here. Saying that I'm personally amazed that we have a match today but shows with hard work miracles can happen. When it was tipping down here in sutton last night I had my doubts. Well done to all of those who did what they could to get the game on. Now lets make it a perfect day with 3 points. No doubt the players will be hungry for it!

Forums are full of speculation and why not? Who wants a sterile forum.
Getting back to negative vibes, regarding today game, the club did not help by not producing a match preview for this game!

If you want to carry on with speculation that could have a negative impact on the club then you go ahead. It's all about the forum obviously

Could only make the first half as had to dash to work - Taylor's two goals were utter class and our lead was thoroughly deserved - Scannell probably should have made it 2-0 before Taylor's second.
First game for me since Boxing Day and I was really impressed with Louis John at Centre-back - looked very comfortable alongside Cloughie what with Downer being suspended. Also a few real touches and passes of quality from Lee Sawyer in the middle.
Gutted couldn't stay for second half but understand we now move into 4th after Bath's defeat.

Well, the inevitable is never thus and the even bigger surprise was the condition of the pitch. Yes, it was a bit heavy in places & there was some wet bits too but compared to what I've seen on various CS videos recently, it was fantastic and it played ok too. So, a big heads up to the ground staff for performing what appears to have been a minor miracle.
And well done to U's today too. WSM are no mugs they played their part in a decent match and used the ball well but came up against a resilient U's defence, brilliantly marshalled by the excellent Charlie Clough who was well supported by Rhys Weston, Louis John and Binnsy. The midfield worked hard and Lee Sawyer again impressed and Scanners showed some lovely touches.
U's three goals were excellent finishes. JT's first was a well driven low effort, his second a curler into the far corner and Binnsy's goal after a great run.
The third probably came against the run of play with WSM pressing to get back in the game. Jason Brown was not over worked but made two crucial interventions before Binns wrapped the match up.
Ref was okish. He missed a few things but nothing crucial to the overall result.
A very good win and well worth the wait to see football at GGL again. Onto Dover which will surely survive the weather?

Great result against a decent side in not the best conditions. Scoreline didn't flatter us. It wasn't that Weston were bad, it was more that we were great. The 3 finishes were top draw, and wouldn't have looked out of place at a higher level. There were a couple of other chances where their keeper didn't know anything about the shot, and his body just happened to be in the way.
Once we got used to how the surface played in the first 10mins there was no stopping us. Not taking anything away from the rest of the side who all played great today, for me the back 4 were superb today. Efficient, classy and potent. Clough for me just shaded Taylor as my MOM but it's a bit harsh to pick one player out of a superb team performance.
Now for a real test on Tuesday night at Dover. Another chance to do our first "double" of the season. To me, I think that the 4 play off sides will be Eastleigh, Ebbsfleet, us and Dover, so coming away with anything on Tuesday will be a huge step forward in our hunt to be in the mix at the end of the season.

All things considered, the pitch was in decent condition - huge pats on the back for all concerned. This was a impressive 3-0 win - we played some good football given the force of the wind and all three goals were out of the top drawer. Great stuff.

I am not going to give Dos's interview away but a even better result after you have given the players a day off :-)
As others have said a fine performance against a playoff chasing Weston side, who in truth where made to look very ordinary. The game settled down after about 10mins and we took control with Jason a spectator for much of the 1st half. Jamie got 2 fantastic goals, not only was the 1st from a very tight angle but he also had to allude 2 defenders running back. The second was emphatically dispatched into the bottom corner given the decent Weston keeper no chance. I think there were a few complaints from Weston as Jamie may well have been offside, but he is such a good runner we will have to wait for the video. 2-0 at ht flatted them a bit as it could have been 3 or 4.
Second half we started well but probably paid Weston a little too much respect by sitting a bit deeper and letting them have the midfield for 15-20mins but we were always dangerous on the break. Jason made one excellent save which could have made things uncomfortable, but up stepped Binnzie which a great goal to end the match as a contest.
We are looking good a big test on Tuesday, really looking forward to the Crabble. I thought there were some excellent individual performances today - Jamie, Cloughie, Binnzie, Dundo to name a few. Personally glad to see us put Weston to the sword after their antics of last season.

Yes, full marks to the club for getting this game on when most matches at our level were (once again) called off. The win itself was also an excellent team effort from Sutton, particularly bearing in mind the number of players who've only recently joined us. (By contrast, the Weston squad was little changed from when the two teams met in November.) Jason Brown, starting only his second match in goal for us, had little to do in the first half but showed his class with some confident saves in the second. Young Louis John had an assured debut at centre back alongside the excellent Charlie Clough (today's captain), while Rhys Weston - making only his fourth appearance - shifted seamlessly to right back in the absence of the suspended Simon Downer. Dammy Shitta started his first game for us as the holding player at the base of the midfield diamond (with Lee Sawyer and Dundo in front of him and Damian Scannell playing just behind the two Jamies up front).
Jamie T's two first half finishes, one from each side of the goal but both from tight angles, demonstrated why we invested in him. Dale Binns had two great runs on goal in the second half - after the first he chose to pass and the chance was lost but he went all the way with the second and buried his shot.
So we reclaim 4th place from Bath who lost at a resurgent Dover. Our trip to Crabble on Tuesday now looks an important match - if the Whites win that one they draw level with us on points.
