Can't believe I ever doubted us. Nice run we're on. If Dos is lined up for manager of the month again come the end of March we may be in the mix. Still think we are too far back mind. I'm not so sure,Bromley are the "Arsenal" of non-league football, and are known for fading towards the end of the season,so,we could be well placed,on the Eastleigh forum they are saying we are the team to look out for

Everyone in a yellow shirt (and white shirt) deserves credit for their performances last night. However, I think that young Kane deserves a special mention. He has had to wait a while for a chance to start games since coming back to Sutton. He galvanised Sutton when he came on as sub against Weston and I thought that he was sensational at times last night. No one better at the club and running at and beating opposition players through pure skill (Dale just runs straight past them using pure speed).

Many of us were expecting Bromley to fade earlier this season, but to their credit it's not happened. Too early to say whether their recent form (4 points in 4 games) is an indication of their fading away, but a team can build up a decent lead and then be unconvincing - like we were in the run in to the end of 2012 where we dropped a lot of points and only a last day win against Farnborough got us in the playoffs.
Not surprisingly Eastleigh have the upper hand now, although they do have Bromley and Stortford to play (twice). On paper we probably have the slightly easier run in, although Havant (who if they win all their games in hand will be right up there) have to play all top 3 sides. They could have a big effect on who ends up where.
Although I still think we're a little too far away to catch the top two (similar to when Dartford won the Ryman and we were about the same distance behind at the same point in the season), we're pretty much an identical gap away from 6th. Another 6 wins from our last 13 games should confirm our play off spot.

2 weeks ago I got 12/1 with bet Victor for us to be promoted, they gave me a free bet of £25 so I doubled it on us and effectively got odds of 24/1 and stand to get back £600 if we go up. We are now 4/1 for promotion so it was a good bet Just coming down from last nights high and reflecting on the game, It was one of those very rare matches which had all the ingredients of a classic in one place at the same time, We should have been out of sight by HT but weren't, then Bromley took the upper hand going 2-1 up. Their fans started getting cocky and giving it large and 9 times out of 10 they would have got away with it, but I think the chant of "can we play you every week" awoke lady fate from her slumbers and she was having none of it. One observation was how quickly their crowd faded away, rather than stay and see their lads off the pitch, and that is one big difference between our clubs. The match didn't so much end as the referee stopped the contest. It was a 'Roy of the Rovers' type game that only exists in comics :-)

Although you'd have to say Dartford and Woking were far far better than the current top 2. Eastleigh appear to be doing enough and proving hard to beat, though I can't find a single positive thing to say about the club, including their current team, manager and 'fans'. Actually I can - they brought Dos to this level and our club. Bromley have a couple of tough games in the next week, pick up 4 points there and they should run Eastleigh close.

Cheers to Dos, and the ex Eastliegh boys for last night! Once a Spitfire - always a Spitfire But PLEASE don't win TOO many more- we have a tough enough job trying to catch Bromley so we don't want to have to deal with you lot as well! I'd be happy if we win the League & you go up via the Play offs though

To be fair, although the Bromley chants were a little bit 90s, and aside from the odd Sutton jibe through years of local rivalry, they had a good support last night. The stewards got it right too I think. And of course they have a decent ground too.
As for the crowd fading away - to be honest if we'd lost in the same way I can imagine a lot of ours would fade away quick, mainly with disappointment.
Thinking about what it was like to visit Bromley in the late90s/early 00s, it's a totally different experience now, and they deserve some credit for that.

They can be as cocky as they want when we turn the tables on them. Added to the night's entertainment being able to sing it back at them and with some justification too.
At least they didn't stoop to the K's level.

To endorse the earlier comment about the Bromley Stewards, as I was leaving the ground I realised that my wallet must have fallen out of my coat pocket during the wild goal celebrations (at least I hoped that was the case). As I forlornly walked back to behind the goal after the final whistle towards a deserted terrace I was greeted by a Steward who said 'you haven't dropped your wallet, have you?' Top man who was suitably rewarded for his refreshing honesty! Great night. One of those 'you had to be there' games!

Over 50 years!! You don't look old enough Bob
Cheers Stewart You are a gent.
My dad (god bless him) introduced me to 'the u's' in 1960 although I didn't do much watching until 1965. I still have the passion and hopefully my health will allow me to continue for many years to come.

I'm trying to be consistent. Mark, you're right we probably would've expected cautions for one, possibly two of our fouls committed in the first half but overall I still think he did well in managing the game. The oft quoted problem about referees' consistency has come down to one thing, in my opinion - if they're being assessed, they dish out cards and penalise every misdemeanour which I suppose is the only way to get 'consistency'; if they're not being assessed they manage the match itself which normally results in a better match and spectacle. Moral of the story - the demand for consistency can therefore only be achieved by assessors being at every game so that the referees' ability to manage a match (at least in this regard) is never an option, even if it's to the detriment of the spectacle. In my opinion, of course.

Great result and performance and IMO justice was done because if we did not win that game then it would have been rough justice.
Ref was awful...sorry to the guys that thought he did ok...
Could not even get the small things right IE the whole of the bromley bench standing up for most of the game.
We should have had one possibly 2 penalties whilst we were 1-0 up neither were given...
The reason there were so many challenges in the first half worthy of a caution but not given was because the referee failed to book John in the first 5 minutes when he wiped out their left winger...had he got the book out then he would have had control of the match instead he lost it...
However who cares...!

In my opinion, of course. We all have our opinion Hon Sec and I have no problem with the above, Press Sec's match report or any other positive observations of the ref's performance last night. I realised he wasn't being assessed early on when he failed to get their bench to sit down and as you say he was therefore probably more relaxed about stuff than he would have been had their been a watcher in the stand. My main prob with this ref (as I stated before) is that he gets too many big decisions wrong. Apparently he was demoted from the Conf Prem a couple of years back and I suspect that may have had an adverse affect on his confidence. I was pretty pumped up for last night's game so he would have probably got it in the ear anyway.

I said to several witnesses before the game that we would beat Bromley but I must confess that when we went 2-1 down I began to doubt my own belief. What an unbelievable match - the best many of us have seen for a long while. Apart from the usual pathetic refereeing! super goals super goalkeeping super control on the park. What more does one wish for. I feel that play-offs are more or less guaranteed now which should be rubber stamped on Saturday

I think we have, on paper of course, got much easier fixtures. Bromley and Eastleigh will drop points (they do play each other of course too), Dos reckons at least 10 I say more. 30 points from our remaining 13 games will put us there or thereabouts. No easy task but if we finish this season like last with 8 on the spin or whatever we did, we will be close. However, our performances earlier in the season against poorer opposition were not great. Lets hope there's been a change of mindset when facing these sides, I think we just expected to turn up and win against the likes of Dorchester & Tonbridge.
