Dover with a late penalty (86mins) puts them into the last play-off spot (I think!)

Indeed they do, and relegate Hayes in the process - Whitehawk stay up!

Full-time Whitehawk 3 Sutton 3. Dover finished 5th on GD and we're away at Crabble on Wednesday. I assume the 2nd leg is next Saturday at 3pm? (Travel plans need to be made)

Couldn't see Dover being in there a week ago, incredible really. 2 big games and an exciting end to the season. Should be a big crowd next week at GGL.

The season decided by 3 penalties it seems - Both Dover and Whitehawk scoring them giving them the positive from today, and Havant missing it at Tonbridge to mean they miss out. At points this afternoon Whitehawk, Maidenhead and Hayes all occupied that 3rd relegation spot, but ut's what counts at the end, and Hayes ended up there. I reckon they will end up in the Southern League along with Dorchester bearing in mind they will be playing at Maidenhead next season.
As for our game, pretty open, but Dos did play it safe - Clough, Binns and Spetch all given 45 mins and Binns looks especially good. Good to see Marvin get a 60min run out and his speed is returning well. Whitehawk were probably more fortunate than Hayes in how the fixtures panned out but it was nice to see them celebrate at the end of the game, even if Steve King still models himself on a 1930s northern barrow boy.
Scannell and Slabber both rested today, and it looks like we'll have pretty much a full squad to pick from in one shape or another on Wednesday. We've of course done the double over Dover this season, but it's the two best defences in the league against each other, so it's going to be tough going, but to be fair, any team at this stage will be tough. If we do ourselves justice bearing in mind we finished over 10 points ahead of Dover, we should have enough to see us through, but then again I remember the Kingstonian game in 2010, so I'm sure the team and management will take nothing for granted, and nor will I.
Now the season really starts. 3 more wins see us in the promised land....

Very good game I am not too sure id PD will be happy with the defence. We rarely got on the end of the many crosses that Whitehawk put into our area. The following results have been recorded in the Skrill South: Saturday 26th April 2014 Bishop's Stortford (0) 1-1 (1) Maidenhead United Concord Rangers (0) 0-2 (0) Bath City Eastleigh (0) 0-1 (1) Boreham Wood Ebbsfleet United (2) 4-0 (0) Dorchester Town [1670] Farnborough (2) 3-3 (2) Eastbourne Borough [345] Gosport Borough (0) 1-2 (2) Bromley Hayes & Yeading United (1) 1-2 (1) Dover Athletic Staines Town (1) 4-5 (3) Basingstoke Town [307] Tonbridge Angels (0) 0-0 (0) Havant & Waterlooville [515] Weston-super-Mare (1) 2-0 (0) Chelmsford City Whitehawk (2) 3-3 (3) Sutton United [356] The updated league table can be found at the address below www.footballwebpages.co.uk/confsouth/league

Surely Slabber would have got some time today if fit enough. He will only give us a handful of minutes as sub at best in play offs. Also no John so presumably he will only be on the bench of anything.

A lot happened today in those final few minutes of the regular season, really pleased that Whitehawk stayed up and more then happy to see H&Y relegated as they are the most negative side you will ever see. Havant choked at the last possible hurdle, and Dover steal in. As for us Dos wasn't taking chances today, although we looked lively up front we did creek a bit at the back, but the main thing is having Bins, Cloughie and Spetch back on the pitch and seemingly coming through ok?
No real argument about the result today a draw was about right, the Hawks penalty was nailed on although it came from a goal kick which should have been a corner to us. Bins had the beating on their defence for the entire half and his first was a trademark low drive on the angle. His second I think goes down to a crowd assist as the keeper got more and more panicky as the crowd noise got louder and Binnsie rob him. Dundo became club top score for the season as he put his own rebound in. Our defending not the best for Danny Mills goal and we had the woodwork and Jason to thank to keep us 3-2 up for a while. The equaliser was no more then Hawks deserved, and then the news of the Dover goal at Hayes just killed the game on the spot. In the end the perfect result for both sides.
Now to the playoffs, I hate them, and will not forget the feeling as Traynor did for us at GGL for few seasons back. I know we are the best side in the playoffs and if we play as we can then we will be in the premier 2 weeks from tonight.

As much as we don't like him, Mr King did state in his prog notes that we are the best team he has seen this season (he's been at a few of our games inc Dover away). Today, he saw the very real threat of Dale Binns in full flow and he tore the home sides left flank to pieces in a first half cameo. Scoring twice - staying on his feet for the second and saving the 'keeper from a red card as a result - and bursting into the box on a number of other occasions too.
Good to see Cloughie back as well, although how fit he is remains to be seen.
Glad for Whitehawk if only to see H&Y get relegated. Serves you right Mr Babb for trying to ruin our pitch on Boxing Day and should we not prevail in the play off lottery, only one trip to Maidenhead next season.
Havant must be gutted and so Dover creep in and a trip to Crabble. Not sure how I feel about that. We do have a good record there but they are likely to attract a large crowd and a strong ref will be needed because as we all saw (or heard) earlier in the season, they are quick to get on the ref's back as well as moan even more than we do.

I cant wait for Wednesday at the Crabble. My brother lives in Deal and is a Dover fan these days!! (despite growing up in Sutton). It will be an interesting evening! Which will probably end in the White Horse! We are both away in Lake District for the 2nd leg so hope we have coverage for the match commentary on SUTV! Back the day before the final, which will hopefully be at GGL!..
