In the Kent Cup.....Ebbsfleet beat Dover 4 - 0. I wonder if this will have any bearing on the Conf.South playoff final. I think it is generally agreed that we prefer to meet Dover next year.

Given Dover rested their entire starting XI I fail to see how this result could possibly affect the play off final.

Yep, we played basically a youth team plus our ancient reserve keeper and a couple of squad players. EU fielded 6 of their first team. Shame we didn't contest it, but a bigger game ahead and after playing 87 mins on Saturday with 10 men I think they deserved it.

I was thinking about holding a picnic for SUFC fans in the centre circle at Saturdays final, apart from kick offs it should be deserted all afternoon

I'd imagine watching those 2 scrap it out wouldn't be a great advertisement for football at this level. No disrespect intended. Dover have certainly made the most of what they have and the opportunity presented to them by Havant's implosion. No doubt they'll all be singing Kinnear's praises now!!

Gotta say I thought Fleet would win that. Conference sides should be warned to take a flask and some marmite sarnies to Crabble if you don't want to starve or spend the whole match in a static queue. From scraping into the play offs with a penalty at the death in the last game of the season Dover have used that momentum to leverage a national league place. Fair play to them but it highlights again how the plays offs rip up an entire seasons graft and hand an equal stake in the lottery to an outfit trailing in well behind.

Not surprised, tbh. Dover just know how to play away from home. They're set up to do that and is probably why their home record is not so great. Destined to be them once they got that penalty at Hayes 3 mins from the end.
Kinnear can stick two fingers up to those fans who slagged him off all season now. And Parmenter will have to open the away end tea bar too.

He will be able to do that because the crowds will flock back to The Crabble now. I suspect large portions of 'umble pie' may be on the menu for the hordes who have ripped into him, the manager and a number of the players this season ! We'll done and good luck to Dover next season. Their away form has been simply superb.

Not good for football or the quality of the conference when a average CS side gains promtion to a league where you need far more than that. Today's match I am told lacked any sort of quality and suffered its share of Mdeste falling on his arse and cheating at every turn. I cannot see it as anything other then smash and grab by a team finishing 5th who just so happened to be favoured by having to play away matches.
I am even more gutted tonight then I was last week, 12 sodding points better off, beat them home and away, spent my money watching games in the freezing cold and rain, just to have it end with a roll of a dice.
I wish Dover as much luck in the premier as I do Turkey in tonights Eurovision!

I'd have thought today's weather conditions didn't help to make it an entertaining game, we had to put up torrential rain coming over the Dartford Bridge earlier, and it seemed to follow us almost all the way to the M23 !
