I've little doubt that had we been aware of the number of our players out there last Saturday who were not fully fit, we'd have been less hard on the team.
It's entirely understandable that this information was not publicly available beforehand, as it could have been of use to our opponents (though the cynic in me wonders if Modeste knew from the start about Will Spetch's dodgy ankle).

I wasn't at the Crabble, so I don't know how Binnsy got injured, but after Spetch got taken out on Saturday I was left wondering whether Dover had deliberately targeted that left full-back area of the field. Having looked at the highlights though, I'm not sure there was anything particularly malicious in Modeste's challenge - it was just unfortunate that he caught Will's ankle as well as the ball. What would have been interesting is if the referee had viewed it as a red card offence (which obviously it wasn't). Dover getting reduced to nine men would have evened things out as bit (I say 'evened out' because, knowing now just how handcuffed Dos was with the team selection, we had a lot less than nine fit players on the pitch).

No one will give you an argument there as all you say is undoubtedly true. However , the paying public are entitled to express their opinion and anyone could be forgiven for getting the hump about Saturday's performance. Carte blanche? The internet, social media, forums etc. (particularly twitter - and there aren't many that would expect me to criticise that) have perverted or enlarged some people's sense of self-entitlement in my view. A lot of self-moderation seems to get replaced with self-importance or "entitlement". I'm not referring specifically to the matter at hand or particular individuals, an example would be some of the tweets directed our way following a Surrey Senior Cup match this season from some opposition supporters. Sorry. The paying public are entitled to their opinion as much as the non paying public it seems, but Millsy is bang right. With power comes responsibility. With my postings and my interaction on social media I take the view of "I'm not actually important enough for people to take too much notice for and if they do they do" and yes on occasion I wear my heart on my sleeve. The flipside of the coin is the troll (which I'm sorry there are a number on here, some more direct than others) who feed off the fact that others will react to them. And they replace that with entitlement. I'm sure we all have an approach on here where we rate some users postings with more gravitas than others. Sadly there are a minority on any social platform who are arrogant and destructive enough to believe their own hype as some sort of social superstar. There's a whole sociology lesson happening in those micro-worlds.

I think Dos' original post merits a direct reply. The mantra that we all use,but the vitriolic and frankly ludicrous 7 page thread on the Dover game, has cast serious doubts in my mind. To suggest our players didnt try, were pathetic, embarrasing, not bothered etc, etc are so far wide of the mark it hurts. Totally agree. That was very insulting. I think emotions were just running high and people were letting off steam. But I can understand why it would be hard not to take that personally. If anyone knows there football, leading upto the game, Charlie Clough,Damian Scannell,Will Spetch all needed injections to play!! Dale Binns having been out for 3 weeks with a knee problem, had an injection to play Wednesday night, and subsequently smashed his ankle after 10 minutes, but said nothing until after the game,as he watched me take Ben King off at half time, and felt he had to keep going.Louis John,an outstanding young player(signing next season) tore his hamstring. Will Spetch another fantastic young player, terrible ankle injury, strapped it up and played to protect Ben King, subsequently stretchered off and spent the night at a and e!Jamie Slabber out for 6 weeks with a double hernia, took painkillers all week in case we needed him in the final. Marvin Williams,8 months out with achilles tendonitis, went against doctors advise to help me out. Gavin Macallum badly bruised heel, could hardly get a boot on!! I certainly didn't know all that. It puts a different slant on things, for sure. Sorry to hear Ben feels that way, too. The final insult was to read the players get paid etc, etc. Well all the players didnt, or ask for any wages to take part in the play offs, they appreciated how difficult things had been this year with no income in the January/February monsoon, and saw this as a bonus to the club. What a lovely gesture from the players. I'm very grateful to them. I'm not sure whether we were told this, I certainly didn't know, so perhaps we can be forgiven for thinking they were (particularly as the Strikers are Key fund meant that in some cases we were directly paying wages). And paid or not, it's still their job. Not that I am trying to suggest that justifies us having a go at them. It doesn't. Sorry if my comments upset anyone; I can't speak for anyone else. it seems clear to me you have lost sight of this in a massive way.We are punching well above our weight, and whilst the best chairman and board in this league are in charge at Sutton,we always will be.Thats a massive compliment to Bruce, and all the board that work so tirelessly, and run the club so professionally, and it only costs them a small fortune to do it!! This is what I've been trying to say. It is really, really hard to get to a playoff and lose so spectacularly when you've never won a playoff game and still remain calm and objective about it. Again, not trying to justify anything. I thought some of the comments were out of order too. Dos, I don't think we have necessarily "become" anything. Please don't assume that our emotional outbursts after a single hope-crushing defeat point to anything permanent. Talking to a lot of the fans before and after the playoffs, most people are saying it's been a fantastic season no matter what happens/happened in the playoffs. Did you see my article in the last programme? I had to make an actual effort not to heap too much praise on you lest it looked like I was sucking up to you! I had to settle for highlighting the AMAZING transformation this club has seen since you have been here - the best thing to happen to this club in almost 20 years since I've been going, and I'm not qualified to comment on what came before that. You've got to remember it looks different from our side of the fence and that people invest a LOT of emotion in our team. You know that as well as we do. And perhaps some of your comments come from the same place. You are right, some of the comments on here have been really unfair, perhaps ungrateful. We don't forget how much you do for this club both on and off the pitch. We don't forget how hard the players work and how well they perform when circumstances are more in their favour. And I can't speak for everyone, but I certainly wasn't aware of some of the issues. Perhaps you and the fans are both being a little hard on each other. Which we don't need to be. We're on the same side. We are DEFINITELY on the same side! It hasn't gone unnoticed that you still post under the name AMBER Dos. That means a lot, as does everything else you do for the club. Thank you. This sort of reaction really isn't uncommon for Sutton fans, or any other fans (look at some of the England fans' reactions when we get dumped out of international competitions) and it must be horrible to be on the receiving end but I am 100% sure it will die down and be forgotten very quickly. I hope the players understand.
