The full match details are on the Sutton home page. www.suttonunited.net/news.phpThe Sutton United anniversary squad will be managed by Barrie Williams, who of course led the team on that fateful day, and will feature both goalscorers, Tony Rains and Matt Hanlan, the full squad includes:- Trevor Roffey, Robyn Jones, Tony Rains, Nigel Golley, Vernon Pratt, Paul Rogers, Micky Stephens, Steve Fowler, Lennie Dennis, Paul Mckinnon, Matt Hanlan, Graham Morris and Micky Cornwell. Along with Jack Moore (Dave Hermitage’s grandson), Steven Golley (Nigel's son), Robbie Mckinnon (Paul's son) and James Sparrow (Tony Rains’ son-in-law). The opposition will be the John Rains select XI, jointly managed by Player Managers Ricky Kidd & Micky Joyce. The squad includes:- Chris Vagg, Clive Offer, Dennis Blackman, Matt Rains, Bobby Green, Lee Wallis, David Jones, Chris Kelly, Dominic Feltham, Dominic Feltham Jnr, Ryan Palmer, Gavin Fraser, Richard Pape, Mark Watson, Larry Pritchard, Tim Vine, Lyndon Buckwell, Bob Mapleson, Matt Joyce, Robbie Joyce, Tony Boorman, Efan Ekoku, Nko Ekoku and Rick Collier. This will be the greatest-ever gathering of Sutton United legends on one pitch, with stars from the 60s and 70s alongside the heroes of the Coventry era and more recent favourites such Dominic Feltham and Mark Watson. It is a unique chance to see players such as Chris Kelly and Efan Ekoku pull on a Sutton shirt once again and even catch a glimpse of the peerless Larry Pritchard, not to mention the first appearance in a Sutton shirt of our most famous mascot: TIM VINE!

A very enjoyable game with four good goals the best being Charlie Clough's controlled chip over the keeper.

Agree with Stewart. Good goals from Louis, Jessy and Marv - and early contender for goal of the season from Charlie. Scoreline flattered Reading. Dammy 'removed from the field' late on following high tackle (don't think he was 'sent off' as such. Challenge looked somewhat reckless - but didn't appear to be malicious).

Sadly I missed the veterans' game, but the Reading match provided plenty of entertainment. Frankly, the Sutton side knew a bit too much for the Reading youngsters. The first two goals both stemmed from free kicks and each was convertedd by a centre back. Many strikers would admire Cloughie's technique for the opener, and the second was (I think) Louis John's first for the club. Once Marvin had drilled in the third shortly before half-time the game was over as a contest. There was good work again from Marv to put in a controlled cross for Jessy Reindorf to bundle in the fourth.
Jessy looks a great prospect and I'm sure will unsettle Conference South defences in the coming season. He may not quite have Jamie Slabber's prowess at finishing but he's got a lot more mobility. He does need to curb a tendency to go down in the box as if he's been shot!

Apart from the heat a very enjoyable afternoon, the match was men against boys, we controlled the game from start to finish often going down to idle in the heat to re-group and come forward at will. 4-0 didn't flatter us at all. Charlie, what a cool finish from a center back who also commanded everything in the air. I got to say I wouldn't use the term 'bundle' for Jessie's goal, it was a brilliant bit of movement to arrive late on a really well placed low cross from Marv. So often the sort of ball you see flying straight through the 6 yd box and out of a through with the forwards all looking at each other. Dammy looks excellent in Midfield but was naughty with that high tackle. In truth Reading should have been down to 10 at the start for the last man foul. Reading might want to reflect on not winning anything in the air all afternoon.

There's a big difference between last season where we were letting in a lot of goals to sharp, hungry and obviously talented Under 21s to this season where we match potentially the best U21 in the country and hammered a very talented other U21 using guile, cunning and a tactical masterclass. As has been already said, it was men against boys out there, but remember we had our fair shares of youngsters out there too.
Now onto Tuesday, which will be a real test of our squad so far. Wellard will certainly be up for it!
One for the historians - Jamie Lawrence came on as a sub, and at the age of 44 years, 4 months and 11 days, is he the oldest player to play for the Sutton United first team?

From the Reading forum:
an U21/U18 team was well beaten 0-4 at Sutton United today - men against boys in every sense.
The management team didn't seem too pleased with the effort on show. One shout was "You have a choice. You can run during the game, or you can do running afterwards"
