No midfield. No shape. No consistent formation or tactical plan and when we fluked ourselves into a one nil lead we backed off and fucked it up with needless subs, a total lack of commitment or composure and relying on players who just aren't good enough to shore things up and shouldn't have been on the pitch in the first place.
Let's be honest here, we lost to Maidenhead because they took their chances and we didn't, Havant could have smashed us but for Tom Lovelock and Chelmsford would have won if they'd put a decent shot in at our makeshift 'keeper. We're surviving on luck and other teams incompetence.
We've been utterly unconvincing and gaping holes are being exposed.
It's too early to panic as a supporter but nobody has played together in any sort of system, we haven't got a clue what our best eleven is or what system we want to play and it shows and it's Flipping embarrassing.
We're four games into the season and I can't see us having a settled line up until the end of September.
There's a good side waiting to break out there but yet again we start slowly and shoot ourselves in the foot.
On the positive side, the ground looked beautiful today despite the rain.

I think that is very well put and an an honest appraisal.Only 4 games in but a re think needed if we are to challenge.

I found this post on the non-league forum.
Sutton United 1 Boreham Wood 3 Conference South Att: 440 - Adm: £12 - Prog: £2
Working until lunch I wanted somewhere where I wouldnt get soaked. Took the tube and a couple of trains to West Sutton. Job done. It's far too long since my previous matchday visit to Gander Green Lane, on a re-arranged Thursday before Easter with Scarborough 12 or 13 years ago. Really impressed how they've modernised the place and squared off the ends. A nearby station, a proper old school stand with bar containing 4 hand pumps, a good club shop, 3 catering outlets, plentiful terracing and cover on all 4 sides. What's not to like?
The game didn't quite match the surroundings. It was good quality and high tempo but shots on target were at a premium. A thought we were heading to a scoreless draw, which would have been about fair when Sutton went 1-0 up with 16 minutes remaining. They spurned a one on one shortly after and it proved costly.
Boreham Wood levelled up when a set piece was poorly defended. Two cracking finishes sealed their victory to the delight of around 20 away fans and a loud contingent in the directors box. Both sides looked solid enough but Sutton need more fire power on this showing.
A top day personally. Scarborough Athletic won 4-0 away, I bought a replacement laminator I use to make the clubs Joint Owners Cards for just a tenner and Old Trafford got in touch to say our room at the Roses Match had been upgraded to one with a balcony overlooking the ground. Happy days!
