The fourteenth Strikers are Key draw of the season took place in a packed Players' Bar after yesterday's win against Farnborough.
Ball number 31 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag owned by " The Oddbods" syndicate comprising Graham, Daphne, Lyn and Simon Baker and Judith Tonge. The syndicate received the £50 consolation prize as Graham was unable to choose the correct key.
As a consequence of five goals scored in the last three games by Dan Fitchett and Jamie White, a minimum of £1,300 will be up for grabs after our home game v Bromley on 14 Feb. The draw will be back to its usual 5:45pm slot.
See you there. Onwards and upwards.

A little too much whiskey on the coach, perhaps?

The fifteenth Strikers are Key draw took place in the Players' Bar after today's match v Weston-super-Mare.
Ball number 14 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag, a ball owned by the syndicate " One and Four" comprised of John Lowe, Barbara Tickle, Norman Summerfield, Don Strange and Mike Harding. In their absence this evening, the indomitable Damian Scannell stepped forward in his ever- popular quest to choose the right key and open the safe for the syndicate in question, a safe which, this week, thanks to Dan Fitchett's goal today, contained £1,350.
Sadly, Damian's pursuit of the correct key is fast taking on Sisyphean proportions - today's futile attempt thereby winning the syndicate members the £50 consolation prize.
This all means that a minimum of £1,550 will be up for grabs after next week's match v Bromley.
NB The Strikers are Key draw will take place next Saturday 21st Feb amid the three exciting announcements being made by Dos and the Board at 5:15pm. Make sure you are there to hear some truly great stuff!
Onwards and upwards.
Up the U's!

Plenty of good news to impart ahead of Saturday's" Free Entry/ Pay what you like, if you like " fixture against Hayes and Yeading.
Firstly, our star guest for the day, comedian Tim Vine, has agreed to take on all comers on the dartboard after the game ( did you see him on TV this week?!!) in support of SUFC and St Raphael's Hospice.
Secondly; he has agreed to conduct the Strikers are Key draws - two this Saturday; one in respect of Tuesday's home game v Bromley and then obviously the other following the match v Hayes and Yeading.
£1,550 will be up for grabs in the first draw and then a minimum of either £200 ( if the safe is opened following the first draw) or £1,750 (if not).... plus £50 per goal scored by one of our strikers on Saturday.
Shoud be fun. See you there!

Our thanks to the inimitable Tim Vine for throwing himself so fully into today's itinerary, including a tremendous, memorable execution of the double Strikers are Key draw.
In the first draw, in which £1550 was up for grabs, ball number 19 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag by Tim, the ball owned by Dave Smith's "Naught Colonials". Dave, a stalwart Sutton fan, now residing in Adelaide, was not available to select the key in Sutton today (!); therefore Damian Scannell stepped forward, and, once more was unable to pick out the right key for my erstwhile centre half partner! £50 consolation prize is winging its way over to Australia. Well done and thanks Dave!
In the second draw, in which £1750 was up for grabs, ball number 42 was pulled out of the velvet bag, the ball owned by the syndicate " Jim's Persistence" comprising Jim Good, Dave Harrison, Mick Radburn, Jack Ball and Chris Hobbs. In the absence of any syndicate members in the Players' Bar tonight, Damian's run of unsuccessful key selections continued, winning " Jim's Persistence" the £50 consolation prize.
This all means that a minimum of £1950 will be in the safe come Saturday week after our game v Gosport. The SAK safe is proving stubborn to crack in recent weeks - we've now had 17 draws this season and the safe has only been opened on 4 occasions. Maybe next time....? Someone is going to win big soon!

Hi AB, Delighted to have won the(consolation)prize! However after taking into consideration the recent quantitative easing policies of the US,the debt burdon of Greece and Spain in the EU and also the fact that both sets of banks (the English & the Australian)will most likely take an obscene commission on the transfer of the 50 quid , leaving me barely enough to buy a cup of tea and a mars bar, I would like to donate the funds back to the club. I should add that had I won the 1550 pounds then it would of course been a totally different story! Cheers Dave

The 18th Strikers are Key draw of the season duly took place after today's match v Gosport - £1,950 was the sum up for grabs.
Sadly, Dan Taylor, syndicate leader of "Lennie's Size 9s", was unable to choose the correct key after ball number 45, owned by him and friends and countrymen, Bob Bone, Ian Bell and Dave Burgess, had been pulled out of the purple velvet bag. £50 found its way to Taz for his and his squad's disposal by way of consolation.
This all means that a minimum of £2,150 will be inserted into the SAK safe for us all to try again after the match v Chelmsford in two weeks' time.
See you then.

There was huge excitement in the Players' Bar today as the 19th Strikers are Key draw of the season unfolded.
Everyone was delighted to welcome club record goalscorer, Paul McKinnon, and the prolific Ricky Kidd - between them they amassed 464 goals for the U's - to the Strikers are Key stage to conduct the draw.
Noise levels rose when Paul pulled ball 45 out of the purple velvet bag, the ball owned by the syndicate " Lennie's size 9s". Having failed in the quest last time out to choose the correct key, syndicate leader Dan Taylor delegated selection duties to colleague Ian Bell who duly obliged by choosing the right key and opening the safe to a crescendo of cheers. Syndicate members Bob Bone and Dave Burgess joined Dan and Ian in scooping the full £2,150 contained in the safe. When I left them, they were busy ordering at the bar....
Well done to the four guys and thanks again to Paul McKinnon and Ricky Kidd, true Sutton United goal scoring legends, for helping with the draw.
We move on to next Saturday and start again loading the safe for the penultimate draw of the season when Basingstoke come to town. Hoping the throat lozenges have worked by then, I will see you there!
Up the U's!
