Highly tenuous and probably complete bollocks but the old fraud Pursey always claimed that SHAM 69 were named after rubbed out grafiti on a bog wall saying "Walton and Her...sham 69" in tribute to what I think was an FA cup run they had that year. You want punk rock trivia of any kind just give old Totts a shout

It originally said Walton and Hersham '69 but had partly faded away, and made reference to when Walton & Hersham F.C. secured the Athenian League title in 1969" Walton and Hersham ran out to 'Hersham Boys' by Sham 69 last time I went

The drawback with songs including the word 'United' is that there are lots of other football clubs which call themselves that. We could do with a song that has more of a close connection with SUFC. An example is 'Yellow' by Coldplay - a slow number, but then so was 'United We Stand' which was used for many years. Or how about 'Yellow Pearl' by Philip Lynott? It has a rousing, up-tempo tune, and was used as the theme for Top of the Pops during the 1980s. I can't post a link from work, but the lyrics include the following: Attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, attack, attack Is what we lack We will arise, we will control We will command, we will patrol
Seems rather appropriate!

I listened to Yellow Pearl with my eyes closed and I could definitely visualise the scene, so it gets my vote.
