I actually thought he was a wrong un until the caution for diving when he could have given a penalty. Certainly in all my time of watching football I have never seen a penalty given like that. I had assumed as is the norm the free kick had been given against the forward. I just can't comprehend it and the video will be interesting as to what he possibly saw that I didn't.

And so we still await our first victory on the 3G pitch - and our first home victory against Truro. But for Ross Worner's very late clanger we would have won tonight, although arguably it was the performance of referee Elliott Kaye that cost us the three points.
It all started so well, Dan Fitchett cutting in from the left in the first minute and seeing his low shot find the net via a slight deflection. However, not for the first time this season, the ref seemed far keener to match yellow cards with yellow shirts than those of the opposition colour. Then, when Worner claimed the ball before colliding with the Truro forward Isaac Vassell, he awarded a penalty to them and added insult to injury by booking Worner. With the penalty converted, Truro seemed content to defend a point for the rest of the half.
The game opened up more in the second half and Fitch put us back in front with a sumptuous second goal that curled inside the far post. At that point we looked good value for the win. But with twelve minutes of the ninety to go, Mr Kaye booked Jamie Collins for delaying a free kick - his second yellow, and we were down to ten men. Truro predictably cranked up the pressure and Worner made one great save, but there was more drama to come in the five minutes of stoppage time. Vassell went down in the box and many in the ground expected Mr Kaye to award Truro a penalty much more deserved than their first - but no, he showed Vassell a second yellow and it was 10 v 10. Then, with less than a minute left, Worner reaches a header but then backs into the post and lets the ball drop into the net for 2-2.
I'm starting to think there's a gypsy's curse on the new pitch. Has Old Mother Robin been shuffling around there at night?
Credit to the Truro support btw: not many of them but plenty of vocal support for their team even when they were behind.

The video footage of all this will be interesting. Maybe we missed some things, no ref can be this wrong so often!
Great performance from SUFC until the sending off, particularly Fitchett

I am speechless after what I witneesed tonight, probably the worst refereeing perfomance 'ever' at GGL!
I have the video, and have seen clips, gowd knows how I can cut the footage to avoid controversy?
Player / Officials colour clash is in the rule book - that was his first error and they just got worse and worse. If I am allowed I may set the full match to public???
The assessor was there tonight, and it maybe that this chap gets the report and sanction his performance merited.

That "burden" and/or perceived responsibility doesn't and shouldn't lie with you, as I've tried to explain. Tonight's events illustrate my point perfectly; you have set up, managed and produced the highlights extremely well, the Club should be in control of what gets disseminated and what gets reviewed, reported and published either internally, externally or through the correct league/FA channels accordingly. I've tried to explain that previously. There was no assessor this evening as I understand which may or may not be another area that probably should be internalised and will no doubt be followed up through the correct channels - you have the position of seeing the footage before anyone else and the responsibility should actually be in keeping this internal and taking guidance from the Club / working with the club. Just my opinion, why not just speak to DJF and Tony rather than the above!!

When you go back to your place of work after the game and the locals who came along to see a game and normally watch Carshalton Athletic don't have the heart to mock you for losing out on the win, you know it has gone badly wrong.
I agree that it was genuinely the worst refereeing display I've ever seen but I think it would be unfair not to also highlight the quality of our attacking play, Truro's brave defending, Fitchett's incredibly cool finishing, Fleetwood's workrate, the whole team pushing on for the whole game with one day's rest after Dartford.
The last three goals we've conceded have been absolute farces. A forward knocked out scoring, a ridiculous penalty and whatever led to Ross thumping into the post and steering it into the goal. As infuriating as it is, it won't continue. There have been far more positives to take from the last three games than negatives.

I was also concerned about the kit clash before the game had started. As you say, OS, that's the referee's responsibility to sort out. But while I've absolutely nothing against Truro, I do think that in a league where the officials ALWAYS wear black, a navy blue away kit maybe isn't the best idea, especially for an evening game.

I see from some of the comments that Truro are planning to install their 3G pitch after the end of this season.

I particularly enjoy the comment saying Truro were robbed and that we were lucky the referee was so poor, after a night like that it's amazing what a good laugh can do for your mood.

As the Truro forum shows this joker has form. Here's another of Elliott's greatest hits.

Good attendance last night for midweek. Great to see a few more bodies in. Well done to those putting in the hard work during the summer.

The goal post definitely moved when Ross conceded that equaliser. It was my impression that when he backed into the post the movement caused him to lose balance.

I thought the mobile goals were fixed to the ground somehow.
