At least if we manage to get through tonight and then Aldershot we will have really earned a HOME 1st Round draw against a league club, Notts County anyone? I'm not sure the laws of probability work that way... but yeah... Actually, wouldn't it be Hereford's turn? That means we'd actually get someone different this time, right? What's that? Oh yeah, the laws of probability don't work that way either

I'm struggling for positives. I suppose from a financial perspective it's not bad for whoever wins tonight with the gate receipts being shared in the F.A.Cup. I imagine there'd be over 2,000 there if we were to get through.
Personally, this naff draw will at least soften the blow if we were to bow out tonight. I'd console myself with the feeling that if we can't beat Hemel we wouldn't have a chance at Aldersh*te. Crowd wise the shots have been struggling, probably be far closer to 1500. I'm not that disappointed. It'll be a chance to renew acquaintances with an old Isthmian for, at a place that's easy to get to, a ground with charm, and a chance to progress

I think it's a cracking draw... We didn't want another conference south team, a ryman premier team ...Bromley, Dover or welling would of been boring ... So aldershot away... Friendly club, great pitch, nice old ground.. & half a chance of a result... Yep take that .... Come on you u's!!!

For those interested in other forums. I have included Aldershot's in Links thread.

I think it's a good draw. Remember Aldershot are an ex-league team, and it's a decent ground. The game is tough but winnable, and of course we've got a few ex-shots there with something to prove (Dan Fitchett especially).
Could have been a lot lot worse. Imagine going out to Eastleigh or Bromley (the latter of which we ALWAYS lose to in the FA Cup). We're all wise to know that regardless of opposition, we could go out to any side and we can go there with nothing to lose. Look at Oxford City, sitting pretty in our division letting in 4 at Bognor.
Bring on the Shots I say!

I expect it to be a close game. Not a great draw in the sense that it is a tough one and no real money in it. You obviously want one of the weaker sides left in at this stage. However it is pretty local so should be fun, we'll have a large following there and I think the U's support rise to this sort of occasion. Hopefully the players follow.

I expect a win,or a draw at least, our away record is good this season,so far,and these are the teams we have to match,if we think we are good enough for promotion

Personally, I just hope the lads give a good account of themselves. Anything more positive is a bonus as far as I am concerned. That is not to belittle our squad but a National Prem side away from home ain't no cake walk. Th teams we have to match to be good enough to be promoted are our Nat South contemporaries. The likes of Aldershot are who we have to match should we ever succeed.

Let's just remind ourselves that Sutton's last two competitive encounters with sides at the level above ended in heavy defeats - Wrexham in the Trophy in 12/13 and Kidderminster in the Cup in 13/14. Aldershot these days are probably not as strong as either of those two were when we played them, but we're still talking a step up. I think we have a fighting chance, but Shots will be clear favourites.

We go there as clear under dogs, with talk on 'Shots' forum that it is our FA Cup final. We should get beaten after putting up a good effort against them, but this is the cup and we can beat a National side on our day. We have nothing to lose and everything to gain, they have everything to lose and nothing to gain! I am quite confident that Tom will rip them a new one, win lose or draw

The 12.5k was on the table no matter who we played. Guess there aren't too many other clubs in the South section of the draw at this stage with much bigger attendances.

Of course we can beat them even if it goes to a replay. Aldershot are no great shakes at present.Should be another cracking cup tie.Look how well Bromley & Dover are doing this season.
