A point won rather than 2 points lost in my view, especially considering the number of chances that Hampton had, including hitting the bar and two or three last-ditch saves.
Yet another nutter of a ref. Phil's goal kick resulting in the penalty was bad enough but the two fouls not given that led to their second were outrageous.
Was their second goal offside? Majority opinion says yes.
Ref plays advantage and whether or not the challenge on Nicky was a foul, the ref had given advantage for the first foul on Bash. There was no advantage, second foul or not, so surely it was our free kick? Then the player knocking the ball in seems well off side, ahead of the player passing it and only one defender between him and goal.
Some nonsense bookings again, especially considering similar offences by Hampton weren't penalised, fair play to their 15 though who got straight up and didn't complain about Liam's flailing elbow. Had he created, the ref would've shown red. Nice to see a player react with credit, good work.
Anyway, well-fought out draw, we're looking stronger in as much that I think we're dragging the oppo down to our level a bit rather than collapsing although H&R did have lots of chances but they only seemed to react and play when they were behind or after we equalised.

A good summary from Mr Mills there. We are looking stronger. Thought Goodchild played another very good game, and in general we were wanting the game. A few heart in mouths moments near the end but some great play by Phil and the defence shut them out.
As for the ref, I'm a little fed up with piss poor officals in this league. There was an obvious corner near the end, which the lino gave as a corner. The ref was quite close to action, saw it clearly and gave a goal kick. Even as the Hampton players themselves were preparing for a corner. So he saw the incident, ignored the lino. Whats the point of him being there. Also when their goalie made a good save from a cross, the ref was heard to say "Well done" to their keeper. Surely thats something that shouldnt happen?
A hard earned point. Hampton were a better side than Stortford, and its credit to us that we get a draw away at a team lying 3rd in the division before the game. Like I said in a previous thread, if we were playing like this in September/October we wouldnt be in the position we are now. Maidenhead is a very winnable game. Lets do it!!!

We did not play well in truth but showed true grit to get the draw, Hampton won't think we deserved it but the boys worked their socks off to get it. Having said that the scoreline is more a reflection on the ref then anything else he certainly had assists in both. Not convinced on the penalty award but was a long way away from it so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. The second was a monstrous error by the ref is all I can say at least 3 infringements took place before the ball went in the net. If as Millsy says the ref played advantage for the first challenge then it has to be the worst advantage I have ever witnessed, this is the 1st time I have ever seen a side concede from one? Phil's kicking seems to have gone down the pan again, terrible not only leading to the pen but the whole game. That said some amazing work from him and the defence to ensure the point with crucial goal line clearances. Craig superb again on his own upfront, when he gets the ball we look dangerous and if we could of got forward towards the end we had every chance of nicking the 3pts.
We are still in with a glimmer but every game now just gets bigger for us!

I don't think we played well today, and sometimes we were guilty of making basic errors, but thanks to some gritty defending by us and it has to be said poor finishing at times from Hampton we were able to take a point from what would of been a hammering about 2 months ago. Saturday is a massive game with a capital 'M', if we are to have any chance of staying up, our points-tally needs to be in double figures before the end of the year, and Maidenhead are down amongst the strugglers.

Point gained I'd say.
We were nowhere near as good as we were on saturday, yet I think we deserved something from the game just for simply hanging on in there. Well done all for sticking to the task. Although I thought we looked far better when Honey came on.
As for the ref, he was an utter retard. I was reminded afterwards of his performance in the 4-0 win at Hayes last season (where he was sh*t as well). I clearly recall a couple of Hayes lads trying to have 'words' with him in the bar after, forcing him to beat a retreat upstairs to the sanctuary of the boardroom.
Maidenhead is the one. IF we can get a win there, we might actually start to build some momentum.

Can finally comment on a match as i managed to make it today so here goes.
Great header for the opening goal which probably came a bit to soon if that is possible. The next 5 minutes were so important and we found ourselves wanting. I was disapointed that we gifted H&R 3 quick chances the third of which lead to the penalty which if PW touched him it was a pen and YC which was issued. At any level if you make a number of mistakes you will get punished and we were lucky with the fact that they missed 2 sitters just before. The 2nd goal was a complete joke, on the first foul the referee pointed to the player as to say that he was going to be dealt with once the ball was out of play, the advantage lasted 1 second as the player that received the ball was cruched as soon as he took his first touch and IMHO the player was played before the ball so free kick, even if it wasnt the referee should of pulled the play back for the first infringement as the 6 seconds that referee's are supposed to give to check that there is an advantage. So as stated the referee made 2 mistakes in seconds and then failed to book the player after his award of a penalty. Well done to the boys on grabbing an equalizer and for holding on for a draw. Thought both the referee and linos were poor today. One seemed only interested in being a touchjudge and giving offside decisions the other one didnt have a clue allowed us to play on when the ball was 2 yds over the goaline and didnt seem to have a clue about offside decisions and when he did get it right the mug of a referee overruled him and gave a goal kick. He didnt punish there player for a blatent pull back which is a mandatory YC alongside many other strange decisions including a couple of very soft YC's for us. Get the ball behind this lot in the return match and we will win, all 4 defenders looked dodgy when facing there own goal and we need to make sure we do this when we play them at our place. Back to the U's thought the 9 looked totally out of his depth at this level. Dundas i thought had a good game although i feel he could work a little harder running into the channels and closing down. His decision making when he had the ball on more than one occasion was strange when he kept hold of the ball rather than play players in better positions in which was the same for many other players who seemed to have the ability but not the brains. Many times as well our players touch was awful and not up to the standard requied. If you cannot do the basics then we have no chance. PW needs to work on his kicking big time, not a bad keeper but is going to cost us more goals if he dosnt sort it out. Too many basic mistakes across the park that is not good enough however battling attributes were ok, however every player puts in 100% for 90 minutes and the defeats will turn into draws and the draws will be turned into victories. You need to match teams for passion and comitment to get anything in football, you make your own luck and you only do this by getting a sweat on and by giving your all
Overall verdict well done on grabbing a point, sort the above out and we will survive.

Been off line for a day but sorted the probs out.
If we were unlucky on Sat, the n we rode our luck yesterday. The ref was absolutely appalling. Having given the pen surely Phil had to go. OK, the ball may have been going away from the goal but it was in a central position inside the penalty area.
Then he made up for that with their second gaol. The challenge on Bash almost cut him in half & to then play on after another dubious challenge was incredible. I accept that ref's make errors during the game but this bloke made them every other decision & a couple of them were match changing. His use of cards was inconsistent too.
I do wonder if I should have pursued my refereeing further than Sunday mornings, because with a bit of fitness I reckon i could have gone a fair old way looking at some of the idiots we pay to watch try & ruin football matches at this level. He took the gloss of a good and unexpected point yesterday.
I'd love to know what Ernie was saying to him as he walked at the end of the game.
Another battling performance. We would have lost this a few months back.
Disappointing gate for a Boxing Day fixture & although, Hampton has improved their ground into a tidy little stadium, surely it's not up to Conference level & their is little room to make any further improvements? So, what's the point?
Still, I thought that about Histon!

For the pen I thought the bloke was already to the left of the goal as we looked at it and was still heading that way when he collided with Phil. I'd have been mightily annoyed had he sent Phil off, although not entirely suprised given the rest of his 'display'.

I must be the only one (apart from the ref) that noticed that Dundas took it out with him then. It hit his chest when Dundas was on the ground. How some of you lot missed it I dont know because it was slap bang in front of you.
