I have to disagree slightly, the first half an hour wasn't a classic by any sort, but the game certainly picked up after the penalty.
The facts are we won, we played well (but probably played better against Stortford). We did what we needed to do, got the result, and are looking like we have a team that gives a toss at last. Its a great result against a team going for a play off spot and are a quality team. The biggest difference is we had more luck today than before. On the season as a whole, if luck levels itself out, then we are looking at the whole of the season of luck now!
I have to say what a inspired signing Dundas is proving to be. He gets goals, which is what he was brought in for, but is also creating them too. With a fit Henry and a motivated Warren (who was as happy as a pig in s*hit when the final whistle went) we have a very potent strike force, and with Ottaway and Wright backing up, i'm feeling more and more confident about our attack every day.
Was great to see Ug starting again today. I'm sure there are reasons why he's started on the bench the last few games (perhaps its to do with a number of yellow cards) but he IS the type of player we need in the midfield to give it the required backbone.
We won. Yet again it was on the 1st of the month (like our other league victory this season), but now we know we CAN win. St Albans is VERY winnable. We are on the rise (2 defeats in 7 league games now) and they are in a bit of a freefall. Then Bath at home which will be tricky, but then its Fisher and Newport. Newport just can't win at GGL, and we need to keep that record up.
The fact is we won. I've not seen our supporters this happy in a long time. And to top it all the players appreciated it and ALL of then headed in our direction to applaud us. This is how it should be every week!!! Suddenly my season ticket seems worthwhile!
