You make some great points there Gareth! Thing is, at our level it's relatively rare that police are able to expend the resources required to cover a non-league football match, so as you know they aren't always around. And the stewards at non league clubs are often referred to as "ground safety stewards." That implies that they are at least partially responsible for ensuring the safety of spectators, players etc should an incident occur, at least until the police arrive. Of course I may be wrong here, but that's what it implies to me.
Good to hear Oxford were such good hosts. They struck me as a very pleasant and friendly bunch.

Felt sorry for the steward to be honest. I can totally see why he was intimidated by the situation. But the buffoon continually "entered the field of play" DURING the game. Clubs anticipate these incidents but I don't think anyone could have seen this, and it's someone I've not seen at a game before, so a bit harsh to be too critical, and they are a nice club with nice fans and a nice set up.
