Anyone know if it's a 7.30 or 7.45 kick-off?
Should be a few ex-Us playing tomorrow night

7:30pm Luke Cornwall appears to be at the Met Police now and Hamlin at T&M (who appear to have a rather novel kit design this season too!). Quite a few ex-Bobbins there too. 22 games unbeaten for Tooting and they could still win the Ryman South so you'd expect them to win on form but the Met Police are just outside the play-off positions so who knows. Not that i'm going, Eastbourne Borough v Newport County is a bit more local for me

Looks like the guys down at Tooting have the hump about us not putting the game details on the website and moaning about our bar !!
You would have thought that after the surrey FA awarded the final to Gander Grim Lane they club that plays their - who I cannot bring myself to write - would at least advertise the game on its web site and try to get a few more down to spend money in the worst bar in non league football, but no not a word anywhere. Sums them up really.

Have they got draught beer at Tooting now then? Only took them 5 years! And don't get me started on the Bobbins bar! ;D

My god, yes, that terrible bar with a choice of two ales, many a draught lager, a bizarre collection of alco-pops for Lewis Gonsalves and the possibility to be expanded to arguably the largest drinking area in the Conf South. On the other hand i could sit on a poncy bar stool and drink Guinness from a can in a plastic cup at Tooting Is that enough of a bite for you?

Sums them up really. Of course they'll complain about the bar. They still think it's the same as when Tooting played their last competitive fixture down at GGL. In 1983 Maybe some kind soul should pop on their forum and recommend the Plough instead? I hear it was very popular with the Newport lads at the weekend! ;D

I would go on their forum if it didn't fill my screen with bloody pop-ups every time I click on anything!! I guess I'm a bit too young to appreciate any sort of rivalry between us and them. Is it a bit like the "rivalry" between Aldershot and Reading? Having been an occasional visitor to T&M a few times this season, I know which bar I'd rather drink in and it certainly isn't theirs!! (Not that it is actually theirs, of course.)

Must be about 84\58ish? I do recall a couple of SSC\League Cup meetings though. Although only one was at home. In the game I remember at Sandy Lane, their supporters had a drum. Says it all really! ;D

I was just going to post on there website its going to nice for them to play on a pitch with some grass on it!! But i then remebered our pitch must be looking as bad as there's at the moment !!I hope we dont get a hosepipe ban this year i think it has affected our football due to the lack of Preparation pre - season

THe Newport match report summed it up...
"The playing surface at Gander Green Lane made a lottery of any attempt to play a passing game or to run with the ball and sympathy is due to the home club who are still suffering as a result of the hosepipe ban imposed last summer which prevented the pitch from having its proper preparation".

Can we try and sue the waterboard on the grounds that the hisepipe ban's cost us promotion?

Tooting won 4-1 after extra time.
Ex-Us on show were Craig Brown for the Police, with Garry Elliott on the bench and Luke Cornwall presumably injured, and Ronnie Green and Dean Hamlin for T&M, the latter finally scoring his first senior goal for any club with Tooting's 4th

Pretty good game for the neutral, 1-1 at full time with Tooting looking the better although Plod were unlucky not to nick it in the last five minutes when they probably should've had two penalties in the same incident, ref played two advantages and heroics on the goal line took it into extra time.
Tooting came through, eventually winning 4-1, the fourth from a screaming run from Dean Hamlin and excellent finish, nutmegging the kepper.
Caught up with Dean, Gary Elliott and Hayden Bird today, all on good form. Was also very impressed with the Plod left winger though, Tony Finn.
Shame that some of the T&M lot constantly slagged off the ground / SUFC in general (including one young-ish ginger-haired fellow who looked like an official, "I'm not giving any money to this bloody Sutton lot") although most appreciated that access to bars etc had been decided by Surrey FA. Low turnout but quite an enjoyable night all in all.
KBB - The T&M 3rd goal went in exactly as you left and you missed Deano's screamer - unlucky mate!

Nuts..
From the 606 phone in, it sounded like a lot of Man Utd fans left early and missed Rooney's cracker as well.
Typical, missing Dean's first ever goal....
