Sorry for the delay but we couldn't get hold of Dos until later in the day and the Chairman only got back from holiday this evening.

What a rise that is for Tom. Helping a struggling Cray to safety in the Ryman South at the back end of the 14/15 season and starting in the FL at the beginning of the 16/17 campaign.
He came on a bomb last season with his pace and power and scored 10 league goals from a wide position.
Wish him all the best for the future with an obvious tinge of sadness that he won't be in a U's shirt next season.

Got a text from a Grimsby fan asking exactly that, hours before I saw this thread. Gave me a nasty shock!

Absolutely delighted for the guy. Fantastic player. The percentage of our goals scored or made by him last season was a very decent chunk. He's undoubtedly worked very hard to get back to that level and is an example for all young, aspiring footballers. Also well done to the club for spotting him, helping his development and then getting the deal done. Massive positive for the club even if going up 1 division only, during the season my gut feel was he'd be picked up for a league 1 side. Guess we've already picked up a replacement like for like with the Wealdstone lad but will now be on the look out for one more. Hope none of our others are picked up from a selfish stand point.

Yes. a fantastic opportunity and step-up for Tom. He was always going to follow his younger brother into the Football League eventually, and it's come to pass. I'm sure, should we ever meet Grimsby in a competitive fixture we would greet him in the way that only we know how...

Cheers for the feedback chaps. Sounds like we have a decent player on our hands.
Looking forward to next season as it's been a massive overhaul for us squad wise. Only 4 of our Wembley starting XI are still here and Tom was our 12th new signing this season, so he wasn't the only new boy on the first day back at training today.
Good luck for the season.

I wonder if the club had an inkling of this when they signed Bradley Hudson-Odoi? Losing Tom is a big shame but we have to wish him all the best in the future. Lets hope we can hang on to Craig Eastmond for a couple of seasons!

As an aside, and perhaps just to add some perspective, the power of this statement in the comments from Dos shouldn't be underestimated: " Like I always say, we will not stand in the way of a player who has a chance to further his career and Tom’s move is further evidence that Sutton United is a great club for any ambitious player to be at" www.suttonunited.net/news.php#3553

I don't think it's a coincidence that as Tom got a better player during the year, our form took an upturn. I wish Tom all the best, but I don't think it can be underestimated how good a player he became in his season with us - and that's down to the coaching and the management we have here. We turned in one season a rough diamond (someone with a lot of pace and decent skill but couldn't cross for toffee) into a well rounded player who scared every defence in the league. You can say the same to how Dan Wishart turned around this year from being what I thought was one of the weakest players last season into an England international.
Our coaching set up is spot on and I don't think they get the credit they deserve at times, but here is a perfect example of what they can achieve with the right people.

SUFCtv is happy for Tom, we hope our videos helped, they are certainly getting quite a few views from Grimsby fans at the moment. Tom did right by us in signing a contract so we would get paid if he went. The clubs excellent coaching skills and the fact that players can progress unhindered is the reason we have the players we do in our squad and why we are where we are today.
We always ask Dos if we can release a video or let interested parties see footage, he always says yes, and that as Millsy says should send out a message loud and clear to those in the future who get the opportunity to join us.
