sallycat If you had made that comment to me 5 years ago I would of laughed about sole ownerships with promises of funding etc, then I had to experience the goings on at Edgar street with Hereford United and a guy called Tommy, I wont call him a businessman as he killed the club, bled it dry, broke all his promises and we ended up kicked out the league and dead. Now back under a phoenix Hereford FC, community and fan led my opinions fully changed and should we at Sutton ever get to that point where benefactors want to get involved etc, the supporters club and trusts should be seated at the board to prevent the Rushden effect.

I'm rather fond of the german model where fans own half the club. A nice compromise between the two models.

I'll wait for the inevitable "get rid of the long serving decent manager and replace him with a bigger name" - that's always one of the early signs of that route.... Happily Craig "Ming the Merciless" Edwards is still there Didn't take long did it 😂😂

That's the thing - when these people get bored or don't see a return on their investment, that club normally spirals down and sometimes they are left with nothing. That doesn't happen in the Premier League. Grays, Hornchurch, Canvey are some but you can add Salisbury, Weymouth, Lewes, Histon, Rushden and Diamonds, Darlington, Hereford....the list is almost endless... I have moaned about this club as rich toys, boom and bust theme too many times over the years to count. There is nothing wrong with investing in a club, but that club should have a sustainable plan, and any take over should always be viewed with skepticism until its proved it is in the long term interest of the club itself. I am staggered that the FA and leagues themselves still allow this to happen after the countless warnings from recent times. Will it all end in tears? history tells us there is a 90+% chance that it will...

Owner/Caretaker manager, this should be interesting, one can't help but feel that the model that they will take going forward has got a very limited time left already, with the recent goings on at the FA and the motion of no confidence tabled in Parliament recently only going to support he view that the FA are firmly out of touch at what really goes on at clubs, no actual conversation with the supporters around the country and no proper investigation into these owners, its the same at all levels, Darlo, Blackpool, Blackburn. Reform throughout the game has to look at how these characters are allowed in,the fit and proper test is far from fit and proper in itself, the only way we will change it is to see supporters given more of a say, before takeovers, during takeover processes, forums with potential new owners, who knows had we had this all done in the last so called round of FA reforms we wouldn't see some of the oldest clubs in the game gone by the wayside.

I see the bandwagon keeps on rolling, firstly TV legend Mark Wright now Spurs finest export Jamie O'Hara signs, can't help but feel that the fallout potential grows, I would like to be wrong for the fans but the way this is going you can see them lining up as a celebrity XI at this rate.
