This is getting silly with people whingeing about threads and the mods locking them. If you don’t like a thread, don’t read it. As long as it obeys the guidelines on racism, sexism, libel etc, post what you like. Merely being irritating isn’t enough to justify censorship. There, you’ve made me agree with Billy now. There is a point at which a few threads degenerate into becoming about particular individuals and not discussion about our team, our league or football related topics in general. That does not, imo, make for a good forum. Do we want a good forum or not? I think we do. And less of the nit-picking, self obsessed slanging matches. People not liking something, voicing that opinion and giving their reasons does not always equate to 'whingeing', you know.

Today's Easily Offended Society A society full of hatred and division.....copied and pasted NOT my words just a viewpoint
The one thing about today's society that I will never understand is how easily every person is so offended by every little thing, some may even get offended over this article. I am constantly tiptoeing around everything I want to say to be careful that I do not somehow mistakenly offend someone- and sometimes I still do! When did people start taking things so personally? No one is allowed to share a thought or an opinion without someone finding a reason for it to be racist, sexist, ageist, or offensive in some other way or worrying about “imposing their beliefs/morals” on others these days and it is a ridiculous thing to worry about!
Our society needs to learn that things others believe and say should not be taken so personally. Whether someone is right or wrong in what they say, or if you just disagree, does not mean you should get angry and defensive about it. It is creating so much division and hate in our society today. Why are we letting a difference in opinion divide us? You as an individual will never be able to control popular opinion, everyone has their own thoughts, opinions, and beliefs. We must accept that. Try listening to other people's opinions rather than shutting them down. Arguments and conversation about opposing views is OKAY, but hate, death threats, and defensiveness is not. We should not have to constantly worry that what we say is going to cause backlash and hatred towards us, we should not have to carefully tiptoe around every word we say and every conversation we have as to not offend anyone. Simply stop taking things personally, it is not meant to be taken that way.

It's really, really isn't a question of taking offence. Experiencing boredom, possibly.

In stark contrast to the mouthwatering prospect of say, an away tie against Brackley, he opined, desperately trying to steer the thread back on track...

Going back to Billy's unsolicited cut and paste viewpoint for a second... call me old fashioned, but I've always found the best way not to be accused of being racist, sexist, ageist, or offensive, is not to be racist, sexist, ageist, or offensive in the first place, instead of passively aggressively accusing others of being oversensitive. But as Lou Reed once famously said, those were different times...

Hmmmm interesting.
This is my take on it. If you put something out in a public space then people do have the right to agree or disagree. There is a way to do this respectfully or disrespectfully. Sometimes however people do read into things that are not there or meant to be implied (as I suffered this week). It is a bit of 6 of 1, half a dozen of the other but sometimes the hardest thing to do is to accept they could be wrong or are too narrow minded to see any other point of view. Some also jump on the bandwagon of "bullying" when someone comes across with a strong counter argument against the same individual more than once. That's not bullying, that's people at different ends of the spectrum, and more often than not it's mutual. (from an admin point of view I've seen no indication of bullying, and I'm sure the other admins agree).
In terms of censoring, if there is any potential damage that could be done to either individuals or club we'd get rid of it. Luckily it's very rare (although frankly Billy did get close implying incorrectly that the club is "fiddling the books" with attendance figures - something which could have cause a lot of grief for the club when there is no wrongdoing happening). So respect to all you posters for following general similar guidelines
Talking of Admins, I've seen some quite awful posts saying that admins shouldn't counterpoint any argument. All of us at Amber planet towers are also fans and our roles as admins is not just to shut up - our points are as valid as anyone else and to suggest otherwise is just silly. If an admin were abusing their role by deleting posts they didn't agree with then that's a different story.
But TonyD is right. If it doesn't interest you, don't read it. I've got a few unread threads because I have no interest in them - no offence to anyone involved but I don't read about SCR's results or fixtures. It's great they are doing well, but I'm a Sutton United supporter through and through and it doesn't impact me. But if it interests others, that's fine. And the same applies for specific posts - those who duplicate a match report within a thread, basically saying all the things I'd just watch with my own eyes I also ignore. Again some people like that, but for me it adds very little to my engagement or interest in the forum.
There's a fine corporate comms approach here that I try and remember. Whenever I post publicly, it's not for my benefit, but the benefit of the reader. This is why for example when the posts come in for "so who's going to the game" I never reply. I think the majority of you are not bothered if I'm going to the game or not, and those that are I communicate that by other less public means.
But as to this specific thread. I don't know about you guys, but if someone can't use capital letters, punctuation or spelling correctly, I generally tend to ignore them, in the same way I would ignore a similar bad review on TripAdvisor when talking about a decent service.
Yours, your own grumpy Admin.

I predict there is less chance of a weather related postponement Oh I don't know. Their pitch only just passed the inspection on Saturday against Salford so if there's more rain later in the week it could be in doubt Area forecast for the day not good
