3-1 probably a bit harsh we had a penalty appeal turned down, would of been given against us! CD twice through on goal only to be cynically tripped both times by the last defender who in turn only received yellow cards, again had it have been us we would of been down to nine. From the second free kick we hit the angle, a lot more attacking potential today, JJ looks better each time I see him, CD is just well CD, JG had a good game and showed a lot of bottle to just beat their keeper to the ball. At the back I am afraid we were like marsh mellow, gifting goals like Christmas cards serious question marks about Davies I am afraid?
I saw something today a little glimmer we have some very talented youngsters, lacking in experience themselves and support of more experienced players around them. 2 or 3 good signings could set us up well for next season.

Today was a team heavily lacking experience at this level. Every player that played made their first team debut this season. At a rough estimate (and its very rough) the combined total of conf south appearances of the team can't have been much more than 150. And it showed. Stortford controlled most of the game without being in control, and it seemed pretty obvious that the 11 players on the pitch today combined were not of a BSS standard.
Good goal by Goodchild, a one on one with the keeper. Most players would have bottled it but he didn't and got a reward. They should have been down to at least 10 men, possibly even 9. Dundas and Wright brought down by the last man back each time, which according to the rules is a straight red card. But never the less we were never going to win today.
Anything but a win and a welling defeat next week will confirm our Ryman League status. The fat lady has now sung.
Sad times for the club - we really have gone down without a fight.

Might as well add the bit from the ressies game last September..... 5 nil to the ressies, comedy moment from former Sutton keeper Kevin Davies, gave a penalty away for the most ridiculous shove punch thing on Chris Green and got sent off, Ross White scored his second penalty of the game to make it 3 nil. Davies acted like a rìght arse and never fails to entertain! Finished 5 nil, last one a comedy own goal. Glad I didn't go to Wales today.....

I thought we did ok and played reasonably well in a couple of spells, but once again just got done with the stupidest of goals. Shame really as we did create a bit. Dundo had one off the line, we hit the bar, could've had a pen.
Thought Dundas was excellent again. The mans workrate is just phenomenal. Goodchild worked really hard too. Brave for his goal.
Still, despite the fact we all know we're buggered, it was slightly heartening to see the lads at least show a little bit of spirit & keep going to the final whistle.

Just makes you think what could've happened if we'd started with Wilson, Ottaway and Dunn instead of the erratically rubbish Davies, the absolutely pointless, slow and idiotic R.Hughes and the lightweight Greene.
I appreciate Phil may still be struggling with his back but anybody who thinks either of those midfielders are worthy of a place in a Conf South squad is lacking judgement. I would rather have myself playing.
Still, Dundo was excellent, we showed a bit of fight, made some chances and there's a half decent team of youngsters out there to take into the Ryman so it's less like the flinging of anybody we can find straight into the deep end of this season.
Well taken goal too, nice to see somebody not afraid to accept the fact that sometimes to get the ball first the next thing that'll happen is you take out the keeper and maybe yourself.

At least Jason Goodchild's goal was the best of the four scored in this match - an angled lob that just eluded the on-rushing keeper before dipping under the bar. There was some pleasing approach play from Sutton at times, but our forwards were just not finding space in the opposition area and too often had to try to muscle their way past burly defenders. Four goals scored in the last eleven league matches tells its own story, and that's the main reason we're going down. Stortford are not a pretty side to watch, but they do the basics well - first to the ball in their own area and able to win the ball at the other end. Sounds simple, but it all seems beyond us at the moment.
