He and trialist Aaron Drinan were two new faces. Was impressed with Burns who made a couple of brilliant saves and might well be a handy back-up keeper for us this season should we take that up. Aaron Drinan (who came on in the second half up top) seems to be on the books of Ipswich (having signed for them from Republic of Ireland last year) - very lively who put himself about - I wonder if a loan signing could be in the offing here.

There appears to be an echo on this thread.

Not me cos Ive only just woken up. Reliving your teenage days Tony? If only! I was up til 4 a.m. reading Zola (Emile, not Gianfranco). That was not something I did in my teenage years, unless I couldn’t get my hands on Reveille.

Its was a good game, Norwich played some good football but Sutton were too strong for them. The squad is looking strong and should be able to cope with 7 games in August. Tommy Wright looked abit off the pace which is a concern.

Annoyingly keeper Charlie Burns is “expected” to join Hampton & Richmond, thought he could have done a job as back-up keeper here tbh.

Annoyingly keeper Charlie Burns is “expected” to join Hampton & Richmond, thought he could have done a job as back-up keeper here tbh. Especially as he's not even guaranteed to be their first-choice keeper.
From Hampton's twitter page:
"Finally, we are happy to announce that Charlie Burns is expected to sign with the club for this season. Charlie will provide strong competition for Tom Lovelock for the No.1 jersey this term, and we're delighted to have him joining us."

Isn't there a positive with that? If he is reserve keeper for H&R then they may be more inclined to loan him short term if the need arises, presumably they wouldn't if he was their 1st choice?

When we let Ross Worner go out on loan Dos said he has the goalkeeping position under control, he said we have Owen Evans ready to come back in when needed. I imagine Burns was just brought in as a precaution because of Butler’s injury for Saturday only

Would prefer Burns over Evans any day personally - Evans didn’t fill me with much confidence and was very poor up at Brackley when they dumped us out of the Trophy.

Really? You’re judging that on one friendly game in which he made some very good point blank saves but his kicking was really poor and didn’t have a cross to deal with the whole game so who knows how he deals with them. There’s a reason he was playing at step 4 last season and is only wanted at step 2 next year as a backup
