Quite a day down the Lane yesterday! A packed Players’ Bar in very celebratory mood greeted the fifteenth Strikers are Key draw of the season which saw the top of the shop Ball 50 emerge from the purple velvet bag. Ball 50 is owned by club stalwarts Mark Kidd and Graham Starns; sadly for them, Kiddo’s bad run of form in choosing the correct key to open the safe continued. Gime Toure’s last-gasp winner in the match v Ebbsfleet swelled the potential winnings to £600 but Kiddo and Starnsey had to make do with the £50 consolation prize instead. It all means that the prize fund continues to build with a minimum of £800 now up for grabs in the next draw to be made after the match v Barrow on Saturday 16th Feb. Until then! #together

The sixteenth Strikers are Key draw of the season duly took place after yesterday’s match v Barrow.
It was the turn of ball number 15, owned by the syndicate “Shameless”, comprising Graeme Anticevich, Ray Gibbons and Terry Gould, to emerge from the purple velvet bag. In the absence of the trio, otherwise engaged after the match yesterday, Sutton-based Barrow fan, Derek, stepped on to the SAK stage on their behalf, but was sadly unable to select the correct key to open the safe. Graeme, Ray and Terry had to make do with the £50 consolation prize as a consequence.
It all means that a minimum of £1,050 will be available to win in the first of two draws to be made after the match v Hartlepool in two weeks’ time covering the Barnet fixture this coming Tuesday night plus, of course, the visit of our friends from the North-East on 2 March.
See you there!

It’s double Strikers are Key time this coming Saturday after the match v Hartlepool United....and the fund has risen to a four figure number!
£1,050 will be up for grabs in the first draw of the day ( in respect of last Tuesday’s match v Barnet) which will be quickly followed by the eighteenth draw of the season, when either a minimum of £1,250 or £200 ( if the safe is opened in the first draw), will be available to win.
It promises to be quite a day! See you there.

Following the hugely entertaining 2-2 draw with Hartlepool United, the two Strkers are Key draws which took place after it proved no less eventful!
With the fund swelled to £1,050 after recent displays of parsimony, the safe was duly cracked by club Treasurer, Rob Oakes, whose ball 30 was pulled from the purple velvet bag leading him to go on and chose the correct key and open the safe. Rob made himself the most popular man in town by putting a generous £600 behind the bar for the patrons to all have a drink. Well done and grateful thanks to Rob. A top gesture.
The second draw of the day, with £300 in the safe following Roarie Deacon’s and Gime Toure’s goals against the Pools, saw ball 33 emerge, owned by David Mathers and Keith Creasey. In their absence Rob stayed on the SAK stage but was unable to repeat the success of the first draw, winning the pair the £50 consolation as a result of not selecting the right key on their behalf.
It all means we have a minimum of £500 in the safe for the first of two draws to be made in a fortnight’s time after the match v Gateshead, when the draws in respect of the matches v Braintree and our Tyneside visitors will be made.
See you then!

A very jovial mood greeted the two Strikers are Key draws made in the aftermath of Sutton’s terrific comeback win against Gateshead yesterday. In the first of those two draws, ball 48 came out of the purple velvet bag, owned by the syndicate “ Happipotimice”, comprising Richard Wilmott and Ann Hall. In their absence, club physio Cat tried to find the key to unlock the safe on their behalf, alas to no avail, winning Richard and Ann the £50 consolation prize in the process. The safe’s contents were swelled to £800 following the afternoon’s goalscoring exploits, but proved no easier to crack in the second draw of the day. This time Gareth Miller, whose ball number 26, was the latest to emerge, also failed to choose the right key and he too had to make do with £50 bar spending money. It all means that an absolute minimum of £1000 will be up for grabs in the 21st SAK draw of the season, to be made after the match v Havant in two weeks’ time. This draw will take place just after the Storeroom Shirt Auction of the current season shirt of club legend, Craig Dundas ( 506 appearances; 107 goals, an absolute Sutton United colossus) - sure to be a very popular lot! Can’t wait

The 21st Strikers are Key draw of the season saw ball 11, owned by Phil White , emerge from the purple velvet bag. When Phil was finally located in the MBA Lounge and was able to force his way through the considerable assembly of people who had gathered for the “Quadruple Anniversary” event, which took place after yesterday’s match v Havant and Waterlooville, he stepped on to the SAK stage in search of the key which would have earned him the £1000 nestled safely in the safe. For the fourth draw in a row, however, the safe proved too hard to crack and Phil had to make do with the £50 consolation prize. It all means that a minimum of £1200 will be up for grabs in the penultimate draw of the season which will take place in the MBA Lounge as part of the “End of Season Party” to which everyone is, of course, invited, and at which the season’s awards will be presented. We hope to see the MBA Lounge packed out for this event too. Put the date in your diary now! See you there #YOURclub

The penultimate Strikers are Key draw of the season took place during the End of Season Party after the match v Leyton Orient. £1,250 found its way into the safe after Jonah Ayunga’s wonder strike against the O’s and it was the turn of ball 3, owned by the syndicate “Another Goal Missed” comprising Neil Robinson, Paul Lane, Russell Miller, David Smart and Nick Taylor, to try its luck and attempt to crack the safe and unlock its contents. Sadly the quest failed and the syndicate had to make do with the £50 consolation prize. It all points towards an exciting conclusion to this season’s Strikers are Key Initiative as the safe MUST be opened in the final draw to be made after the match v Maidstone United on Easter Monday. We’ll keep going that evening until the safe is opened....and a minimum of £1,450 will be up for grabs! See you all there

It’s the final Strikers are Key draw of the season on Monday which will be made in the Players’ Bar at 5:30pm after the last home match of the season v Maidstone United. REMEMBER; the safe MUST be opened on Monday so, in the words of Robert the Bruce,if at first we don’t succeed, we try and try again, discarding keys along the way until it is opened! A minimum of £1,450 WILL be won on Monday! It could be YOU Thanks to all SAK players for joining in the fun this season - your support is greatly appreciated. Onwards to 2019/20! #yourclub

It was an emotional Players’ Bar which greeted the final Strikers are Key act of the 2018/19 season after the last home match of the season v Maidstone United. With goals from Dylan Kearney and Brett Williams boosting the fund to a total of £1,550 - which had to be won- anticipation in the room was high as ball 19, owned by the syndicate “The Yatzee Gods” comprising Dave “ Smiffydownunder” Smith, Gareth Lambe and Kevin Sutton, emerged first from the purple velvet bag. In their absence, Micky Stephens stepped on to the SAK stage but was unable to choose the right key on their behalf and the syndicate had to make do with the £50 consolation prize. With that key discarded and £1,500 left in the safe it was the turn of ball 50 to make an appearance, owned by club officials Mark Kidd and Graham Starns. This time Kiddo picked out the right key from the three remaining thereby winning the pair the full £1,500. Congratulations to them!! Thanks to EVERYONE who took part in this important fund-raising initiative for the club. Your support is greatly appreciated. I hope as many people as possible will want to continue playing in 2019/20 - please do let me know your plans when you can (Adrian.barry@suttonunited.net) so that I can set up the new season’s cast list during the summer. In the meantime thank you all again and enjoy the next couple of hopefully sunny months before we go again Onwards we go. #Yourclub
