The relentless National League schedule continues this week with another midweek round which sees a short trip to Maidstone.
Am I right in thinking we haven’t beaten the Stones since that famous April night a couple of years back? A poor record against them which I hope we can rectify tomorrow evening.
This will be the first Maidstone home game without Jay Saunders in charge.
C’mon the U’s!!

As a Maidstone fan I really don't expect much from this game. I want us to get the shock of Jay going out of our systems. I want to see different formations and players tried. I want us to go for it and not be timid in attack. If that all ends in defeat, it won't be any worse than what's been served up for a long time. The quality of players is not as bad as results suggest, but it will take time to get them playing as a coherent whole.

2-0 for the U’s before we head into Europe. I think we will see a more dynamic display and then off to Airdrieonians.
I’ve just got the green light from work so I’m driving up on the day.

Seems in addition to the suspended Blair Turgott, Stones will also be missing striker Joe Quigley who’s away on international duty.

Excellent commentary. But, it is 'Beautyman'. Not 'Beaumun'. Sorry.

Bringing a flare to a game is not big, or clever, it's very stupid, especially when setting it off amongst your own fans, hurting one, and then running off. It's not the first time a section of our fans, and they know who they are, have done this.
You are not supporting our club, in fact the opposite as the potential outcome is we face sanctions, which spoil things for everyone.
Please have a good think about your actions if you were one of those involved and let's hope that this time is the last time.

Top 8 teams separated by 3 points, what a season it’s going to be!

As expected we were quick out of the blocks and our dominance could have blown maIdstone away during the first 30. Fair play to them, they hung in there and the left wingback no. 16 looked very dangerous, but it always seemed like they'd need a moment of magic to unlock our defence. Indeed they nearly produced it midway through the 2nd half with a run and shot that deserved a goal but only found the bar, but after we'd weathered the storm during the middle third of the match we looked very comfortable.
Ayunga had a hugely promising first 45 with a touch and awareness that suggested he's the missing piece of the puzzle, but Clough stole the show yet again with an utterly faultless display. What on earth he's doing outside the top 4 leagues I don't understand but it's certainly great for us as his confidence resonates through the team. A very important 3 points after a tough run of 4 without a win and no league game for awhile.
Maids will be ok and gave a decent account but it was great to see us play with real intent for that first 30, even if it wasn't what you'd call a complete display.

For the record the game finished 1-0 to Sutton, our second victory by that score in Kent this season. We had the better of the first half, Ross converting a cross for his fourth goal of the campaign. Managerless Maidstone gave it a go after half-time, striking the bar, as we seemed to lose energy and ideas. But we hung on for the three points, giving us a nice total of 16 points to take into the international break. We're now 7th, just three points behind new leaders Harrogate. The pyro was let off in our end just after the final whistle. I overheard a steward saying that the culprit will have been caught on CCTV.
