As a club we are over achieving. As a squad they are well capable of being in the top 5. It’s fine to take the pressure/expectation off and go with the former!

I thought Dos made his position clear pre-season i.e. in terms of the financial resources of this club, relative to the wealth of other clubs in our division, we are around 12-13th place (from memory), and any kind of finish over and above this is a bonus. I think that's quite a pragmatic way of looking at it, all things considered. Here's the pre-season interview with Dos I was referring to - his comments around 5 minutes in are particularly pertinent...

Over achieving or not we couldn't beat the bottom team at home. We did rather play into Dover's hands in the second half by keep knocking the ball forward in the air rather than on the ground.

Quite new to the club as I said only caught the back few games of last season this is my real full season of following us, hooked already I know lol. So he says 10th to 15th budget wise and he aims to beat that which is fair enough. I think like another poster said if our best 11 are playing at home on our day we can play anyone in this league of the park and that inconsistency along with injuries etc is what makes it all frustrating but then again that's league football. I think with Dos he needs to realise that he has set the bar quite well and had marvellous success with the club and leading on from that fans will naturally expect good things. I don't see why we can't be top 10 in this league with the squad we have at our disposal and I'm sure Dos will feel that way to, his no mug.

This is only my 3rd season as a season ticket holder, so I'm a fairly recent U's addict myself. Welcome to the fold!

At the end of the day, its not the club that plays on the pitch its the team, you can have lots of dosh and still be crap, likewise you have have little and still have a good team. We are the latter, Dos and staff have great ability in finding the right players for the right price, and moulding them into a team greater than their sum of parts.
Where I disagree with the comments regarding funding is that it is no excuse for a good team not to win its matches. We have a far better team than Dover, but we didn't win because we didn't play well enough. On Saturday we beat a high budget Wrexham team out of sight, because we did.
Leicester City won the Premier League / Wigan won the FA Cup / Notts Forest won the European Cup.
Likewise SUFCtv produce probably the best video highlights in the National League including professional commentary. They do it on a packet of biscuits, old knackered equipment, and a mouse budget. They do it because they are dedicated and have the most talented video team in the league :-)

Lest we forget that Nottingham Forest won the league the season after being promoted (rather like an Ip swich team from the early 60's) and then they go and win the European Cup two years on the trot.
Proper football, how I miss thee. (With the possible exception of Leicester).

We didn't play well enough on Tuesday. We did the previous Saturday.
These guys are human and with no disrespect intended if they were brilliant week in week out, they probably would be playing at a higher level. It's the nature of the beast.
One thing for sure is we don't have a side that will be struggling in the bottom 4. Yes it's disappointing to let the bottom side come back from 2-0 down to draw, but it was a draw not a defeat and like I've said a number of times recently, we've got form against weak performing sides, especially those who we are more familiar with.
Dos is always honest and although he didn't say it outright, the fact that there wasn't time for an interview on Tuesday suggested to me that there was a long talk after the game tomorrow which should indicate that the management were not too happy, but they are under no obligation to tell us and more importantly everyone else who cares to know on the planet what's going on. Sometimes it's better that we don't share info to our opponents and if it means that we don't get the info some of us crave then so be it.
We're in good shape - I'd rather be us than someone like Chesterfield any day of the week. And one could argue that perhaps in terms of the size of the club (before you look at budgets) we are above what would be our natural level. So let's enjoy it and see what performance we put in tomorrow. It may well be a much better performance and we still lose. But one thing I've learnt from Dos's time in charge is that it's very very rare that we do the same thing in the next match.

Dover are a very poor side and play football in a way I could not watch every week we do try to play football in the way it should be played but it takes all sorts to make a game
