I drove to Aberdeen and back in the past two weeks and having experienced the long sections of roadworks I recommend those going by car avoid them. Use M40 north from London to the Warwick exit then A69 to Leicester, briefly north on M1 to next exit and A46 to Newark, then A1 north. A69 and A46 are fast straight dual carriageways with no roadworks. I presume you mean roadworks on the M1? Or the A1? Or both? Was it that bad to necessitate adding 30 odd miles to one's journey?

Well, he seemed to think so.
Bearing in mind the amount of night closures experienced returning back from that neck of the woods, I would say the M1 ain't great at the moment.

Even the trains are slow tomorrow, puts an extra hour and 15 minutes on the journey due to engineering works.

Whatever the results there won't be much movement. If we lose Gateshead will go above us, but no one else will regardless what happens elsewhere. A win will push us up to 6th place if Fylde lose away at Dagenham. Losing away is something Fylde have failed to do in the league all season (with only Orient being the other unbeaten side on the road) however and Dagenham need to do something they've only done twice this season - win at home (albeit one of those was last time out at home to Harrogate).
We're the only 2 teams in the top half of the table on Saturday playing sides in the same half. All of the teams above us are playing sides in the bottom half, with only our match and Chestefield v Havant the closest we'll get to a "six pointer"

I miss very few away fixtures. But as mentioned elsewhere, No supporters coach possible for this one so I shall be 'following it from home. Delighted to learn that Dundo is available for the match . Hello Francis it’s SOL. Listen to the commentary tomorrow afternoon, I’ll do my best to make you feel like your sitting right next to me. Hope you enjoy listening.

I avoided the A1 roadworks both ways so I don't know how bad they are, but the traffic reports sounded bad. Coming South in the 50MPH roadworks on the M1, I could see the Northbound traffic had slowed to a 1st gear stop-start for miles so I guess my route is quicker.

I'm going, but I think there are quite a few away regulars giving this one a miss. It's been an expensive autumn for many Sutton fans! Gateshead are inconsistent, but we look like being short of two or three players. A defeat would see them move above us in the table. Not sure what team will be fielded tomorrow as important cup replay Tuesday. Will Ross be given a game in preparation for the replay and will some key players be left at home so they are fresh for the Tuesday game. Dos often laments a poor performance after a long trip and are the points that important?

I would think Ross will be fine for Tuesday without us risking him being injured in this match! I would assume Dundas will come in seeing as he can't play Tuesday. I think there is a chance to use the midfielders who have been bench warming in this match given their undoubted quality (Brown, Taylor, Beautyman).

Good luck to the team and the travelling loonies. I love this sketch but it's always annoyed me how she says, "Has he... been?" instead of "Has he been...?" (as it's rendered on the original script). The way it's said removes the ambiguity that would otherwise make it a really good joke. Still great to watch though!

Another good point away from home and another clean sheet for Ross. Hope he can keep one at Slough.

Excellent point and rested a few too which hopefully will enable us to be nice and sharp Tuesday. Well done all involved!

Most of us would have taken the point had it been on offer before the game. We started with Cloughie up front, flanked by Bolarinwa and Wishart, with Beautyman, Brown and Taylor in central midfield. Gateshead had the lion's share of the chances, but most of their goal attempts were off target, Ross W making one good low save in the first half and our defenders making several effective blocks.
Jonah and Aaron came on in the wide positions in the second half and the former did cause the home defence a few problems, as did Josh with his ability to exploit pockets of space in front of the defence. There was also a substitute's appearance for Dundo in midfield. Gateshead do like to keep the ball on the deck, so this was a good tactical point rather than an attritional one.
EDIT: the away attendance was given as 37, but some of us counted around 50 in the away section!
