This weekend sees our final game of a tough yet fairly unsuccessful January against the most in-form team in the division..Ebbsfleet - great 😩.
Having disposed of Darryl McMahon and appointed Garry Hill they’ve really turned the corner and strung together some good results - especially last weekends 2-0 victory over Orient. With Kedwell and Cheek in hot form we could really do with Jamie Collins returning for this one to marshal the defence.
We’re rather clinging onto this final play-off place at the moment - just two points ahead of Saturday’s opponents in what promises to be a cracker of a match. Granted we do tend to play better against the better teams in this league so I’m hopeful of at least a point - hopefully it’s been a productive week at training!

For those at Eastleigh and since, any idea about Easty? Did the injury look serious? Could do with him for this one.

While nowhere near as disruptive as changing the manager which half the division seem to have done, Sutton have had far from a settled side recently. In part the result of injuries, but also because we have brought in several new faces. Even when the players coming in are not defenders, it is the team's efforts in defence that can show the cracks. I only watched the highlights of Eastleigh but in those it could be seen Bennett had Eastleigh's #3 overlapping as well as a left-sided forward to deal with, and he did not appear to have the aid of a Sutton player tracking back. I am sure somebody will get that detail on Saturday.

'I'm sure Dos will let us know at 2pm on Saturday' Yup! That's a pretty fair assessment. I was wondering as he limped off at Eastleigh whether it looked bad? There are different pained looks on players' faces, and the knock wasn't carried on the highlights. I'm hoping he plays.

Currently there are as many red cards as there are goals in the National League. 2 apiece.
Edit: And then Borehamwood score to make it 3 goals to 2 reds. Had to be them didn't it. Makes around 13 people happy.

That felt a little bit lucky. Largely two decent teams cancelling each other out but we really lost some shape in the last 15. Great win, though.
Worner was excellent.

Struggling to remember a less deserved win since our return to the conference but that's football, and any sympathy I feel for fleet is somewhat tempered by the amount of cheating their players were guilty of. Ref was constantly mugged off by diving, fell for it every time except thankfully when it happened inside the box.
Make no mistake fleet were the better side and had three glorious chances to score. Worner producing blockbusting saves to deny two of them and he must surely hold onto his spot when Butler returns. Massive credit to the back 4 who put in a big shift today but I don't think anyone else got above 5s and 6s. Dobson had a particularly odd afternoon, was outstanding for 30 minutes, dire for the next 60 then provided a sublime corner delivery for the winning goal, which looked well over the line.
Really didn't feel the balance of our side was ever right this afternoon and fleet played some good passing football compared to our more direct approach, but their strikers' wasteful finishing came back to haunt them. Two weeks to get two key players back fit and a very, very welcome, albeit charitable 3 points to secure at worst another season in league 3, I mean the conference.

Know what you mean but today we didn't give up. Can see why Ebbsfleets form was so good and for a 0 0 it was an entertaining first half. But in addition to Worner who was superb, the back 4 deserve a lot of credit. A great 3 points and we're certainly playing at this level or above next season. First double of the season done

Got to mention Dale Bennett’s block on the line half way through the second half. Proper signing he’s been, doesn’t put a foot wrong
