Over a quarter of the season's games in is not too early to judge and one would only have to look at the change over the last 2-3 years to assess the general course of direction. Results heading the wrong way, performances generally dropping off, obvious gulf in class and tactical/ strategic awareness and experience between previous and current management team, season ticket sales and attendances seemingly dramatically down and general sense of despondency seeping through spectators and fans. Something needs to change.... One thing that needs to change is that supporters need to get a reality check. The change in management team has lead to a loss of financial support and increase in expenses. We were in a false position in not having to pay for management and coaching staff and it was inevitable that that could not go on forever. The high level of season ticket sales was driven by the FA Cup run - I know because I sold quite a few half-season tickets to Wimbledon fans keen to get a ticket for the cup game! That won’t change until we get another cup run. The reality is that for a debt free club without a sugar daddy we are punching above our weight. I’m afraid the newer fans will have to get used to it. Tony makes a valid point as always, but to be fair I think the vast majority of our regular fans have been very realistic in their expectations this season. No one is on here expecting us to be challenging at the top, almost all the moans are based on what we see as frustratingly poor tactical decisions. I think Matt's assembled a very decent squad all things considered and I have been impressed with him in all areas except tactically, specifically at home. Most of us knew we'd have less resources this season, but on the other hand, Daggers were severely restricted in that respect and they somehow bagged Peter Taylor, who has clearly created an exceptionally well organised side on a shoestring. Yes they struggled last season and there's nothing to say Gray wont work similar miracles given a few seasons at this level, but he needs to grow very quickly into management as its pretty clear he doesnt have the sort of black book of players wanting to play for him as Dos had or Peter Taylor has, nor the high level tactical understanding of the game that the likes of Taylor, Alan Devonshire or Tim Flowers do.

Daggers’ squad has definitely not been put together on a shoe-string.

As I said in my post D&R was taken over early last season (an American consortium). Maybe not the richest in the NL but certainly not the poorest.

OK maybe they had some cash to splash this season, but i would expect that the players he's signed have come for the experience of playing under him more than the cash (unlike the likes of billericay) and he did a good job to keep them afloat last season with no cash at all. i very much doubt they are paying anywhere near the top wages in this divison. All that aside, they were certainly an impressive side, up there with Barnet and Notts Co. Regards Dobson, their playing style suits him well and it says alot how well organized they were that we couldnt expose his lack of pace at all.

A report from the opposition. linkThis is an excellent report, thank you for linking it. I cannot fault any of it - including the description of 'a Sutton outfit' in the opening paragraph.
