Believe you me Billy,i was glad to get in the car out of the cold weather but a point away from home is not to be scoffed at for teams at this level. What do you make of the new Goalkeeper Del ? Things have improved a lot since he came into the team. Louis John came in at the same time. Personally I think they both make a massive difference and I hope we can extend their loans (sorry Ossie)

I did say we needed to change something though not the Manager I might add. A new goalkeeper and centre back have made a marked difference to results and confidence which has allowed Craig Eastmond to go forward and be far more influential. The main reason for the upturn in my opinion is Louis John who looks assured at the back and significantly better than when he left us.

I have always maintained that Butler is too small to be a top class keeper at this level.

It must be a great feeling as the final whistle blows and a 0-0 draw is secured.Fylde on a cold, wet and windy Tuesday night and only 250 odd miles from home. Yes, enjoyed getting home at 4am. Enjoyed seeing the effort in nasty conditions and enjoyed being amongst the 28. I even enjoyed the cheese and onion pie at half time and the officious stewards trying to make all 28 of us sit down as “a seated stand only” (despite Fylde fans at the other end also standing). And very happy with a point.

I did take a photo of the U’s fans gathered in the away section of the stand at AFC Fylde last night but my technical inability has precluded me from uploading here I’m afraid!
A big shout out and massive thank you to everyone who made the journey to the North West in really horrible weather conditions. The players and management team were hugely appreciative of the magnificent support.
I reckon there were 37 supporters there in total - 28 in the away section of the stand, seven club officers plus Ahmed and James from SUFCTV. Some of the stories about how people made the difficult journey on a very wet and windy December night are superb - long, long return car journeys, train up and lift home, overnights in Crewe...and National Express coach to Victoria returning at 06:15 this morning! However you did it, well done and thank you! A superb effort.
The players on the pitch were equally brilliant - working so, so hard to ensure we came away with some reward on a difficult night for football - the team coach left GGL yesterday morning just after 10am and got back at 3:30am this morning after the 500 mile round trip bringing home a well-deserved and hard-earned point. Hard work, huge determination and togetherness shone through very brightly on and off the pitch last night.
Great stuff.

In the context of the season its a decent point - but what it did show maybe part of the reason we are needing to crawl our way out of the drop zone. Playing against 10 men for 40 mins we failed to be creative enough and land that killer blow. Full marks to our defensive play which has not looked back since Louis was added.
Just that little bit of edge up front needed..
