Last home game of the season and we are in the last chance saloon.
Let's roar the boys to victory and give them the applause they deserve this Saturday.

Got to make sure we take every point going, as Colchester still have a little work to do.
Wont be an easy game but at least Crawley will be under pressure as well, this season its usually just been us..

This is set to be a tense match. Both sides will feel that they have to win, but for very different reasons!
A draw for us would confirm relegation if Colchester avoid defeat at Notts Co, while a draw for Crawley would see them slip out of a play-off place if Walsall win at home against Bradford.

According to the bookies, the below are the approximate probabilities today:
Sutton have around a 40% chance of beating Crawley, and around a 25% chance of drawing.
Those worthless Colchester have around a 40% chance of beating Notts County today, and 20% chance of drawing. Effectively, this leaves a 60% chance that the result would be useful for us.
If you assume that we won’t make up 8 GD in 2 games and that only a win would do, then that means that there is roughly a 24% chance that Sutton will still be able to mathematically be able to stay up after today.
Of course the 24% chance is just that we will still be in with a change after today’s results, not that we have a 24% chance of survival. The overall odds of us staying up average at around 2-3%.
Having said that, please defy these odds Sutton.

Half-time and we’re down 1-0.
Those worthless Colchester holding on to a 0-0 draw.
As it stands, 45 minutes until we’re relegated.
55 minute edit - both us and Notts County have since scored. We now only need one more goal.

Looks like we are down now with Colchester having those two games on us, so we must look to the future now.
As for the match first half a bit cagey with the only goal coming from a good curling effort. Second much better, with Steve’s words ringing in their ears, got the goal back after just a few minutes, then two one up, but yet again we concede a late one which has been a problem all season.
For me if only Steve had been appointed earlier because Matt had lost the dressing room it might be different, and also, some off the players do need to take a long hard look at them self and say did they do enough, and also that goes for the board as well. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Good effort today gave it a good go against a team in a play off position.
If only Steve Arnold had been brought in earlier in the season. Can't fault the lads effort in the last six games, damage done much earlier.

Can't fault the lads effort in the last six games, damage done much earlier. Was just about to post the same re Arnold. Watching from afar as usual but absolutely gutting to concede at the death when the other results were in our favour. The only glint of light is that both of Colchester's remaining opponents need to win to get into the play-offs, with goal difference potentially being a factor. Our opponents will finish 4th come what may. The lowest of low odds but at least there's a faint chance until there isn't...

An excellent battling second half performance from Sutton that arguably merited a victory. Sadly, we were guilty of giving possession away late on when we could have run the clock down and conceded another late goal. That late goal felt like that Wembley feeling all over again!
Still not relegated after today's results but staying up is somewhat unlikely.
It's the hope that kills you!

Immense credit to the players for the effort put in this afternoon.
An entertaining game and I can't think of any much better performances this season.
Not sure why there were so many police (including some from Sussex) on the Rec side and what the "handbags" just after the final whistle was all about.

It was certainly more than ‘handbags’ from my view in front of the main stand.
Shame such a good game had to end this way.
Still, onto Tuesday when Doncaster becomes our favorite team!!

Thought a fantastic game, in front of a good crowd and can’t really argue with the result. Crawley could have been out of sight in the first 20 minutes and I’d say other than Stockport no one had looked so good going forwards against us. They were certainly vulnerable at the other end which made for an entertaining game. We missed some fantastic chances in the 2nd quarter. Not sure what the thought process was defensively playing such a high line that they repeatedly went over with particularly their right winger having our left back (as often is the case) on toast? Much better defensively 2nd half until the fateful moment.
The defending for the 2nd just is inexcusable. Added time and a guy is given the freedom of Sutton to waltz through. And after giving him that freedom we then should have rugby tackled 40 yards from goal if nothing else (whether on a yellow card or not!). Maddening end.
A lot of effort though and we’re clearly not in the worst 2 sides anymore, but you’re relegated across the season and for whatever reason we couldn’t get a result or 2 to get the confidence up earlier in the season. It’s not for want of effort I don’t think at any time, just not picking up the points we should have and getting in a bit of a downward spiral.
Positive about the future, it feels like we’re a much bigger club for the stint and hope we can hold onto the new supporters now they have found out we’re here!
I thought a police presence was absolutely obvious given we’ve picked up a silly element and playing Crawley who have a number of their own idiots.
At least they didn’t relegate us on our ground. Went VERY quiet when we turned it round and the old ground properly woke up for 20 or 30 minutes there.
Right Doncaster flying, 5-0 Tuesday will do the trick.

Right Doncaster flying, 5-0 Tuesday will do the trick. Maybe too soon for inquests but off the top of my head several reasons: 1. SM appears to have instilled a confidence and belief that Matt didn't 2. Change of playing style: more high-energy and possession based than under Matt 3. Change of playing personnel. In particular, Arnold's displays have been commendable as others have pointed out. Beautyman and Lakin far more effective than N'Guessan and Clay in CM. Sanderson knocking in a few goals cf the non-scoring O'Brien. Agree re "bigger club" comment. We seem to be in a much better place than when we were promoted to the NL. Thanks for the "police" explanation though our "silly element" has been around for much of the season, not just today.
