Just seen the highlights and the defending for the equaliser was naive or very poor defending, no one closing down, take the player out, there’s only one game to go and take it for the team, same for the offside goal, some’s our season Up. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

Might have got my distances wrong on the equaliser but still!

If only, if only...
Had Harry Smith put away that stoppage-time opportunity at Harrogate last Saturday, and had our defence closed down Crawley's no.8 at a similar stage yesterday, we'd be four points better off and one ahead of Colchester (who obligingly lost at Notts County).
Our survival hopes now hang by the slenderest of threads. Even if Colchester lose their final two games (both against clubs striving to secure play-off places) and we win at MK (who have secured 4th place), we'd need a combined shift in goal difference of at least seven.

If’s but’s and maybe’s.
What stands out for me are the two penalty incidents at home. Smith’s miss to give Colchester a point and Bouzanis needless challenge in injury time against Doncaster.

Yes, points carelessly dropped earlier in the year, on the back of a poor first half to the season, have cost us.
The players worked really hard yesterday to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead, only to let two points slip away in the closing minutes. But that's football.

Again too early to commence the post mortem but I really don’t think we can attribute our potential/ assumed relegation to the odd mistake/ penalty miss/ opposition save in any particular game. The reality is that over the full season we haven’t been good enough allbeit our form over the last quarter of the season indicates for me that we stayed with Matt too long and that an earlier change of culture and tactics combined with the new personnel that have made a difference to recent results would possibly have saved us.
If we want to be a league club again I think we will need to be more robust and decisive about making changes early if needs be. Not really the Sutton way, I know….

After the Lord Mayor's show: Crawley supporter here. I don't do many away games so it was good to have a day out at a fairly local game. Trust both sides to get a result that probably isn't much good for either. Funnily enough, I imagine both sets of supporters will be watching Colchester v Doncaster on Tuesday. We will be wanting Colchester to win - hopefully by a cricket score to worsen Donnie's goal difference - and you will be wanting Doncaster to win by similar to keep some final-day hope of staying up. Doncaster do have an incentive for a better goal difference as it may yet come to that on the final day. I was joking with a friend earlier about coachloads of Crawley and Sutton fans outnumbering the Colchester locals on Tuesday.
I reckon it's still possible for Sutton to stay up OR for us to get into the play offs, but not both. I stopped celebrating our late "winner" very early as I have a habit of scrutinising linos after such a "goal", but some around me were still celebrating for a while LOL.
I do have an ancient affinity for Sutton, because my late grandparents used to live just off Green Wrythe Lane in Carshalton and I have fond memories of the area.
I do regret the attitude of some of the Crawley supporters towards their Sutton counterparts, but every club has its idiots and there's not much can be done about it.
I thought it was an excellent final few minutes as both teams strained for a win and left gaps at the back.

Is the club 'bigger' and 'better' than prior to the EFL?
The Titanic was bigger and better than anything that went before, but it sank because of damage below the waterline.
Without a status report its difficult to make that assessment IMO?

I don’t know if the club is ‘bigger’ but on the subject of ‘better’ we certainly have improved facilities since we went into the league. I ironically a lot of these were built for away fans and may see substantially less use in the National League. Whilst I personally prefer playing on grass so I think that’s better than our previous 3G there’s no doubt that all of the ground improvements including ripping up the pitch and the associated loss of revenue must have been a substantial cost that as it turns out we could argue are not now needed. Easy to say in hindsight
I really hope our brief sojourn in the league will not have saddled us with significant and overbearing debt to make the club ‘better’…

It’s either been taken down, or I was dreaming?!
