Personally I don't like the fact that the players have to run around them when they come out or that they're made of ugly breezeblocks (which I hope will be made more attractive eventually!) and can't quite see why they couldn't have been built further apart so as to be equidistant from the halfway line without blocking the tunnel. But yes, we had to have them and yes, they are better than the old ones.

The point that seems to be being missed is that they're built where they are to put the management team as close to edge of the pitch and indeed as close to our defence as possible.
From Dos and Alan's point of view they're in the perfect place considering where the pitch is located and since the point of dugouts (well, seats by the pitch, they're not dug in!) is to provide a place near the pitch from which the management team can watch and control the game that's a good enough reason for me.
I see giving the manager the spot he wants nearer the pitch as no different to providing a proper training ground, new showers in the changing rooms, a good physio, facilities for having pasta and a chat post match etc.
It's an improvement for the direct benefit of the team and indirectly we benefit by the team being better for it but as it's not quantifiable and a few people are put out it becomes a massive overblown issue.

Exactly how big are these new dug outs ? Can i still see the pitch from my favoured seat/s halfway up the stand to the left of the tunnel ? I sit in the centre stand right behind the dugouts 4 rows back and part of the touchline is obscured

I believe that there are cabling issues where the dugouts are so they could not be "dug in"

All the moaning is way out of line, they are situated where our management wanted them, to give them a good view and put them closer to the action. They also conform to FA rules now and were built with many hours of peoples 'free' time. The concourse area in front of the main stand should not be used as a area to view the match from, if you want to be in that area then pay to sit in the stand or go somewhere else to watch. Their prominence now also provides a revenue from advertising which the club sorely needs.
If only those quick enough to have a moan would be as quick to give up their free time to do something positive for the club?
There are a few on here not just on this thread who seem to find amusement in just being negative !!!

To be honest, moaning about the club running out of money, lack of quality of players, continual poor performance or a poorly handled major incident could be things that we could moan about as they can put the future of the club at risk. New dugouts, as medibot said, shows that we don't have those worries or issues and some people have to find it within themselves to be negative for the sake of it. Do you think we can have a better and more positive discussion about issues in the club, which to be honest at the moment, apart from Fulham being dodgy, are ALL positive at the moment.

Out of interest, will they be made to look a bit more attractive rather than just a pile of breezeblocks? Might have been easier to get some of them plasticy ones that people can see through though!!

Nonsense is it way out of line. Thanks to the people giving up the time, but it doesn't stop others offering an opinion.
It is however a minor issue and 5 pages of comment has probably done it to death.
Whilst I'm sure we're all grateful to everybody putting in hours we are either not prepared to do or haven't the time to do, let us remember this is a semi professional proper club and everything will be judged with this in mind.

As a matter of interest, why do you want the terrace beneath the OG Stand to be a sterile zone? Any real reason or more control freakery?

I see that someone suggested sunken dug-outs. This would work fine but for one small issue. Drainage!
In order to avoid the dug-outs filling with wet stuff, drainage would have to be porvided. This would mean linking the new dug-outs to the existing surface water drainage on the site. Far more expensive than just a couple of labourers digging!
