We have just posted this announcement on the main site.
We are pleased to annouce the Sutton United Hall of Fame and, in conjunction with this, a competition open to every one who submits their list of nominations.
Since 1898 the history of our club has been sprinkled with names that resonate down the years, without whose contributions Sutton United would in some way be a different and poorer club today. You can nominate a player, manager or coach or one of the many people who have played a role off the field, including supporters. All we ask is that you think carefully about your vote, we want the first ten names to really be a celebration of everything that is special about our club.
We are aiming to launch the Hall of Fame in January with the induction of the first ten people. This is where you have a chance to win. We are looking for five people to be elected by popular vote, with five more nominated by the board of directors. All you have to do is submit your list of names by e-mail to HallofFame@suttonunited.net. All votes carry equal weight but please put your nominations in 1 to 5 order to help decide the winning entry in the event of a tie. The winning entry will be the one that most closely matches the top five nominations in the popular vote. If there is a still a tie, the winner will be decided by lucky dip. Please include your full name with your entry. Strictly one entry per person please.
The winning entry will receive the same small trophy as the inductees, together with a commemorative scroll and an invitation to attend the launch day as a boardroom guest.
Entries may be submitted after midnight tomorrow (Saturday 25th September) and the closing date is 1st December, so you have just over two months to think about your entry. For those without access to e-mail, voting slips will also be available from the Supporters' Club shop after 2nd October.
In future a further three peole will be inducted into the Sutton United Hall of fame each year, chosen by a panel convened to represent all areas of the club.
The directors reserve the right to discount obviously frivolous nominations.
