Have to say, a very fair post-match interview from Dowson on the K's site. Asked if they deserved to win, he said 'over 90 minutes, no'.
On another note, whilst the K's fans behind the goal were twats, and I agree with all that has been said about them, walking out of the ground, some of the comments thrown about by some of our Amber-decked fans were extremely childish, and were very much sour grapes. When some elderly K's fans said 'the best side lost today' (a nice, and correct compliment) in their direction, they shouted back 'you can only win by cheating' 'cant wait to do you over at our place' etc etc.
I was embarrassed to be wearing my scarve. Lets win with style, but also lose with style. We did deserve to win, but hey, thats football.

I did not hear any abuse from Sutton fans after the match; however some of the language during it was inexcusable. We can’t condone rival fans if our supporters can’t control their language. Let us hope peace prevails in Norfolk on Saturday

Stewart was right, there was a small minority of pillocks on our side too. The difference is that the rest of the support didn't join in with them. And its something other clubs don't expect. Sadly enough when the Ks come to our next month, there will be more of the same. When we played them at home last season, both times, there was a crowd of there giving what they would call banter to any supporters they can find. And its not a recent thing, any of you who know Kingstonian from their conference days will remember Monty and his gang, who were basically thugs, and received bans from Kingsmeadow by AFC. To be banned from the ground by your landlord club is pretty serious.
Its just a shame that there are decent Ks supporters there who get tarred by the same brush

I heard that, tbh the guy saying it is a bit 'interesting' but that isn't an excuse, I was embarrased as well, and muttering "shut up ...." walking a good few paces in front. Unfortunatly there are a few 'interesting' characters in our support base who also need to grow up. True the Kingstonian tactics weren't to everybodys taste, but if we converted the chances we had we'd be talking about a handsome victory instead of a crushing defeat. We should learn always to be gracious in defeat (hopefully we'll not have to many chance to practise this season!) and I was proud of our fans singing away after the full time whistle, as always encouraging our team. I'm all for passionate support but it's as important to be fair. Let's not turn out like the Kingstonian fans behind the goal, but more like the more fairminded Kingstonian fans and others of different clubs of that ilk

Amen to that pieman If they get their kicks singing anti Sutton songs that's their call but I'd rather just back my own team. Also had a young K's fan say "well played" on the way out in a genuine manner which was appreciated.

Let's not turn out like the Kingstonian fans behind the goal, but more like the more fairminded Kingstonian fans and others of different clubs of that ilk I entirely agree we have won 7 of our games some a little fortunately, but on the whole those defeated have been very gracious even though they felt they deserved more from the game. All clubs have a few idiots most are chastised by their own supporters, I can think of about 3 sides in our league where that does not happen and K's are one of them. I don't like hearing the sour grapes argument because its just not true and neither do I think that K's cheated in anyway last night, its up to the officials to give decisions. As others have said it was a cracking game and K's did defend superbly and got a little luck too, that's just the way football is. I did tell one of the stewards last night I hated Kingsmeadow as I left but like the majority of U's fans took the defeat with good grace, and maybe many at K's and a couple of other sides should learn that too?

One other thing I want to add about our fans behaviour is that I heard someone making abusive comments to Matt Gray, the worst being that he looked like he was from a concentration camp because of his lack of hair, a sickening thing to say. Whoever said that should be made to watch a documentary on the holocaust.

Whilst he might wear a K's shirt now, he was a great servant to Sutton and I'd never give him any crap. Nor would I stand for anyone else doing it.

I thought the atmosphere was good, and fair play to the Ks fans and the Us fans for making noise. If you don't like banter, abuse and swearing, what are you doing at the football? Try rugby or cricket might be more your bag.

Swearing is a part of life; however don't you think some of the dire language could be curbed? We want to encourage new fans and youngsters to GGL. The use of the C word is not necessary.

It's not just the swearing Vern - I have no problem with swearing personally unless it offends those present or there are kids listening. It's the personal abuse. Which may or may not include swearing, but is out of order regardless.

Vern, if you read a post from another thread by Nomadic U "But to suggest that swearing at opposition fans for shouting support of their team (I was called a fat c**t for saying good luck Scrivs just before kick-off, by some anonymous hero in the crowd) is passion is misplaced methinks"
If you think that this is acceptable behaviour by any human being, in any sport, or even in any public place, towards someone else who happens to be wearing an opposing top then you are quite misguided.
Its very rare I've seen unprovoked abuse at a Sutton fan before. Happened at Bognor a couple years back. Even the issues with Tonbridge and Wealdstone were more to do with a an incident/issue rather than it being just Sutton.

I got sworn at down at Eastbourne once by some old bloke.I did take him to task about it and received apologies from other Eastbourne fans nearby. I didn't like the abuse given to Matt Gray either and i know from whence it came. However that is a different issue and winding up opposition players is sometimes fair game!

Agree with Taz, anyone who abused Matt Gray at all, is a grade A fool, and knows little or nothing about Matt's contribution to SUFC.
