Worcester is stuffed full of good pubs, so there are plenty of drinking opportunities on Saturday. Here are four suggestions, all in the Good Beer Guide. Dragon Inn (The Tything, WR1 1JT) A good call on the way from Foregate St station or the city centre to the football ground. Expect around six real ales from small breweries, plus a Belgian selection. Lunches served. Turn right out of the station and it's about a 5 minute walk on the left. Firefly (Lowesmoor WR1 2SE) A new one on me, a converted Georgian house just to the north-east of the city centre. Offers some unusual beers. Turn left out of the station then left again. No food. Apparently it doesn't open until 1 pm on Saturdays. Plough (Fish St, WR1 2HN) Highly recommended, with a good choice of beers and ciders from local producers. Has a homely feel and serves excellent lunches! Turn left out of the station, walk for about 10 minutes then turn right. Some of us popped in here after the Hereford game last season and found it difficult to leave! Postal Order (Foregate St, WR1 1DN) Wetherspoons - 'nuff said? Virtually next door to the station. We met some Welling fans here after the Hereford game (though not sure if that's a recommendation ).

The Crown, based in a small shopping arcade used to be superb. On the main drag from the cathedral to the ground, the bar had barrels of various ales and pints were drawn direct from then. Being boring, though, I opted for Marston's at the time. Unfortunately this was about 28 years ago & if it is still there, I bet it won't be the same.
