Ok folks so im unable to go to work because of this weather at the moment so thought i'd do a thread like this.
Pretty good season so far don't we all agree? Sitting top of the division albeit having played a couple of games more than our challengers. Big disappointments for me were the defeat in the FA Cup to Alton and the loss at Kingstonian where I thought we played them off the park for the majority.
Which games have you lot particularly enjoyed? Players to have particularly impressed? and things to look forward to this season...

If anybody had told us before the season started that we'd go into December six points clear at the top, we'd have been delighted. The FA Cup defeat to Alton was very disappointing (and costly), but may have been a blessing in disguise. Going out so early allowed us to keep up with our league fixtures. Points in the bag are usually more valuable than games in hand. Our best performance was probably Maidstone away. But the highlight of the season so far has to be the climax to the Wealdstone match. I also really enjoyed the trip to Lowestoft, even though the game ended 0-0. I'm looking forward to Bury Town away, and the games in April - when I hope we'll be able to clinch the title. Folkestone away on the Saturday of the Easter weekend should be fun.

Agree with the Aleman - being 6 points clear at this point is great. Dos said pre season that the reason we didn't win last year was our poor start - at the same point (roughly) last year we'd won 9 and lost 9. Weirdly enough most of the high points for me this year have all come in November - Maidstone, where apart from the first half at Kingsmeadow, was our best performance of the season, the end of the Wealdstone game, but best of all, laying the K's demon to rest.
Players who have impressed - well for the first time in a long time, I don't think there is a player who isn't impressing me, which is a good sign, and a strong balance. So many of them deserve a mention - Tom Davis for being possibly a better Sonny Cobbs, and holds the midfield together, Richard Jolly for his movement and style up front, the back 4 for generally holding things together, but overall for me its between 2 player - Kev between the sticks, who possibly in the 23 years I've been following the Us is the best keeper i've seen for us, and Bradley - leading scorer, made more impressive that he's rarely been played as an out and out striker and the number of games he's started on the bench. Given the fact that he spent a lot of last year on loan, he has his chance to impress this year, and he's doing a great job of it. Attitude sometimes is the difference between an average player and a good one, and BWG has the right one

I think we are doing ok, and I believe we have by far and away the best squad in the league. We have had our ups and downs so far this season with Alton being the one that sticks out as the lowest point. The high point has to be laying the K's ghost to rest, but that winner on Saturday felt pretty good too. I think our best performances were K's at Kingsmeadow even though we lost, and our away match at Tooting, although Maidstone runs them close as we actually controlled the game.
As for players, we have such a good bunch that the MOTM awards are spread around. Jolly has to take a lot of credit for how well he has played while not scoring, that cannot be easy for a striker but he is well worth his place in the side. Bradley has been on fire and looking like he is enjoying his football and scored some wonder goals. But our best player as far as I am concerned to this point is Scrives, one of the best keepers I have seen at our level and if his saves were goals he would be our leading scorer.
A long way to go and Dos keeps saying wait till January to see us play like we can.

Quite pleased so far. We're 6 points at the top, and although people have pointed out we've played more games than most, I think only Lowestoft can overtake us. And they've got to come to GGL still. We've played most of the teams marked down as contenders before the seasons start, and apart from K's away we've done quite well. I said at the time the point we got at Lowestoft (especially considering the circumstances) was major for us. After a difficult October, we came through November with flying colours (Margate aside). We can even afford to miss key players for a time. Obviously as we enter December we have a few challenges, starting with Hendon away on Saturday, and of course ending with carshalton on the 27th. If we can enter the new year in a similar position I can't see why we can't maintain the course. As for the squad, I've been impressed with the players bought in over the summer, and some of our Football has been pretty at times. I don't know if we're the finished product yet, but it's going to be an interesting few months

In my opinion, we have had a very good start. In the past couple of seasons, we may have had a bigger lead but I dont think that there will be a runaway leader this season so we should be happy with what we have achieved so far (although if we had won at K's and not had a player sent off at Lowestoft etc, etc). I was worried when Jason Goodliffe had to retire and AJ got such a bad injury but we have proved to have a strong squad in quality if not in numbers maybe.
Tooting away and last Saturday were undoubted highlights but K's away showed what we can do in terms of a performance even if on that night we never got the result. Man of the Season so far has to be Scrivs but I was mightily glad to see Sam Page back on Saturday as he has been immense too.

Its been a good start to the season hopefully we can carry it on through christmas and into the new year!
Low points probably AJs injury
High point the last 5 mins against Wealdestone just shows the battling tendencies of this team!
