I'm going to be pushed for time on Saturday, leaving about 1pm. So what is the quickest route to Eastleigh A3/A31, or M3?

I will be leaving at 1 too we will easily make it, just put your foot down on M25/M3 and be there by 2.30pm

watch the speed cameras on the M3 when you first get off the M25 at junction 12. I believe they are the average speed camera things that keep you at 50mph for a while.
They havent caused me much of a delay the last few times I have been there as after a few miles, you are back to normal.

I agree as I drove down that way on Sunday and didn't spot a variable speed sign for at least 400 yards, after joining the M3. I then had to decelerate to below 40 to compensate. Those behind were not amused. ;D

i find it easier to go down the A3 and cut across the hogs back A331 just the other side of guildford to get you onto the M3 around fleet services. The 331 is all dual carriageway and saves having to use the dreaded M25.

M3 for me. I got back from our last visit before the 6pm news on Radio 2 going that way. It was a bright sunny early evening if I recall.

M3 - if you get a clear run you can JUST do it in an hour. Don't turn off at Eastleigh though, keep going to the M27 (east) and follow the signs to Southampton Airport. You can save a good 5/10 min that way even though its a little longer
