Listened to the 2nd half commentary, and it seems we sat back too much. Weird commentators, not so much a comentary of the match more a chat between themselves about how they seemed to be going out of the trophy. They couldn't believe the attendance was about 380..........surely not. They reckoned it was a lot more. Providing the weather holds up we have a good chance at GGL. Roll on Tues!

The co-commentator was a right miserable bugger.

We did defend a bit deep in the 2nd half but Eastleigh are good going forward especially their no 11 although he let himself down with an awful tackle. Their no 5 should have been sent off for a second bookable offence but the ref bottled it. In fact he and the linemen were quite apalling. We didn't get much off them at all and there were some strange decisions.
I thought we acquited ourselves well and were well worth the draw. We certainly had chances to win the game and put their defence under pressure thanks to Jolly and Forbes.
Let's hope we can win on Tues and get a good draw in the next round.

Certainly one of the more finely balanced games I've seen this season. Before I go any further we matched a team doing well in the league above and we got a draw away from home. I would have taken that before the game. As for the game - one thing it was lacking was real clear cut chances for goals by both teams. Both of the goals were close range one, and I don't think either keeper was called to make stunning saves - more about doing their jobs. Our goal was Dundas have the 3rd bite of one of the worlds biggest cherries. Their defence just seemed to vanish. Well taken, 1-0. Rest of the half was more them than us, 2nd half was a bit more perky, but we tired, and if the game went on for 10 mins longer than it did, we'd have lost. Man of the Match for me today, Darren Ebsworth. Some vital tackles, and didnt put a foot wrong. The Ref - I'll let others say more about him, but there were large periods in the game where I don't think he knew his own name. Dundas getting a card? Perhaps he went down a little easily, but the card was harsh, and after that, Dundo didnt get a decision his way. Nearly booking Kes, I think, for not retreating 10 yards, when Eastleigh were taking a kick in the wrong place. Just nuts. Replay Tuesday. One which we can win. If Eastleigh have a weak point its their defence, esp their No3. Big blokes, but not as well rounded as our back 4. We need to go out there attacking and peg them back. Then the result will be ours. Rock on... P.S. Found some Eastleigh pics of todays game already - the comment on their forum (apart from the general theme of "Eastleigh got lucky") is that KES is Ming the Mercilless! tonysmith.smugmug.com/Sports/Eastleigh-1-v-Sutton-United-1/15028440_tFTFT#1122506231_hvdKw

Only 2 Ryman league teams in the hat for the draw - Us and Wealdstone, who got a very credible draw away to Newport County.

I didn't make it today but did hear the commentary, the ball seem to be with them most of the time but when we had it we appeared to get forward quickly and by the sounds of it had 2 decent chances to make it 2-0 before they levelled? I could only hear one set of fans all match and it was of course the mighty U's In a selfish way I am glad of the draw because I don't miss the tie now and its better than my original next planned match at Molesey which will now see one heck of an attendance just 4 days before Xmas. Talking about attendances, it appeared that today everyone thought it was much higher then the 388 quoted. It does appear that counting at cup games when the gate is shared does leave a lot to be desired, maybe we could have someone suitable numerically challenged counting the replay gate? Overall 1-1 away to 10th place Conf Sth side with maybe the better of the chances has to show us that we are good enough with this squad to hold our own in that league. Tuesday will not be the same type of game as I am sure we will not sit back and let them have it with both barrels loaded. Eastleigh supporters don't seem to magnanimous about our performance choosing to slate their own instead, but maybe just maybe our lads are due the credit for restricting a decent conf sth side. I am looking forward to Tuesday now

I don't think the crowd announced was unrealistic and I thought the away fans put on a good display (but can do better ;D). Looking forward already to Molesey away 3 nights before Christmas

The home support was very poor today.I expected more from them and they were put to shame for the whole 90mins by the once again fantastic Sutton Fans! I am sure it helped the team battle through when there some very tired legs out there. Although not good to let in such a late equalizer iam sure many of us would have taken a draw before the game. Well done Dos and the boys and the magnificent fans.Especially those with little or no sleep from the previous nights alcoholic excess! Not mentioing any names(Gareth and Taz)

Glad I made it down to the game today! Not a classic by any means - lot of hoofing the ball about but we made some effort to play the ball on the ground. Unlucky not to get through but Eastleigh kepy knocking at the door. Roll on Tuesday folks for the replay.

A taste of what we can expect next season if we do go up. Eastleigh are physically stronger and better organised than most of the teams we meet in the Ryman, but there wasn't a great deal between the two sides. They had several players well over six foot and the ball predictably spent a lot of time in the air, but I thought our defence coped pretty well and restricted them to a handful of chances.
We came under a lot of pressure towards the end of each half, but when we got the ball down and spread the play we were able to create a few threats of our own. The early breakthrough meant that we led for about 80 minutes of the match, but in the end a draw was probably a fair result.

Draw was a fair result I thought. We probably made the better chances, but they had a hell of a lot of the ball. Typical Baird side really. Big, strong, moved it well. But they had nowt up front.
I think had we not had a 2 week break for the weather, we'd probably have held on for the win. We looked knackered at the end! Still, we'd probably have settled for the draw before so no complaints. Just need to show 'em how to use home advantage!
Well done all behind the goal too. Good noise.

To whoever it concerns, the match report on the official site is a bit of an eyesore!
