How would you invest it in SUFC? Better players? New manager........... My choice would be to invest in a new playing surface. I think club officials would spend it very differently to those not running the club!

I think most of us fans have thought about what we'd do if we won the lottery and had a few million to throw at the club.
I'd upgrade the ground (already chugging along nicely I know) and the surface first before making cash available for players and staff. There'd be no point in going crazy and trying to get the U's into the football league as it's not a sustainable model. That said, teams like Hereford and Accrington are League Two and just about about manage(ish!)

Better ground, with terraces closer to the pitch.

Spend £100,000 on the pitch and have proper covering for snow and very wet weather with good soakaways. I know that games would still get called off in snowy and icy weather because of safety issues but at least when it melts we do not have a water logged pitch for the rest of the winter. Make sure the ground re-development takes place completely by adding to available funds. Then gradually assemble a team that could challenge at the top of the BSS. Unless we can get crowds consistently over 1000 there is no point going any further, unless your millions are going to subsidise survival in the BSC .

Our ground is like a very old car. However much we like it, the ground will always needs a lot of money spent on it to keep it running.

I'd spend on the pitch (I'm told you'd need to spend nearer £300k for it to be of any use) and a full size 3G behind the goal (complete with squared off Rec end) for the training facilities and rental income and a decent gym.
With a pro set up behind the scenes and regular income things like promotion and sustainability as a club would be far easier to achieve.

The one thing I WOULDN'T invest in would be players! I would invest in anything which can create an additional income stream or attract greater sponsors/fans. Things like a full on refurb of the main bars, additional signage around the borough, adverts in local/national press, higher profile 'events' and invest money into showing what a 'hidden gem' we have here at GGL. If those efforts could get regular home crowds up to 1000 minimum from the 5/600 we have already, and these are people who keep coming back and get hooked, exactly the same way I did all those years ago, the added value to my investment would be ten fold. And unless you are laundering money, you want a return on your investment, don't you now?

Well said but I shop at Tesco's not Waitrose ;D Achieving new and lucrative income streams is possibly the best chance we have of climbing higher up the pyramid. This would obviously off-set the low crowds we would still attract. Never in a million years would we get support like AFCW or Crawley.

The most important thing for me would be to keep the current board and set up as it is. Why change a successful business model that's the envy of other clubs. The only proviso is that I guess I would like a place on the board!
However that said it would also be important to keep any investment as secret as possible otherwise clubs would quote ridiculous prices for players should money be made available.
I would like to develop the ground which would mean buying the houses in GGL and then hopefully a deceant stand could go up. I guess West Sutton station would have to be upgraded too and I would not only have undersoil heating under the pitch but all around the ground (including car park) and the entrances to the ground (Council planning permission will need to be granted of course but shouldn't be a problem when we're promoting health and safety).
I haven't thought about this at all!!

There are many Crawley and AFCW supporters who are disenchanted Sutton supporters.Crawley were not getting great support before they progressed up the pyramid and we have a bigger catchment area.

I'd sack the board, ban anyone who disagrees with me & pick the team. I am a despot at heart, lol.
