We've been off the boil for a while now, losing this game doesn't see our title challenge over by a long way though Dos is going to have to look at what's not working for us at the moment. Jols barren run is something that needs addressing i think as he is a proven striker at this level, yet doesn't seem to be getting the service he needs at times. Admittedly when he's had a few chances he's not put them away but it's a vicious circle as confidence must drop some when not scoring.
I'm sure we'll come back from this and still be there and there abouts come the end of April.
COME ON SUTTON!!

Bury beaten 2-1 late on could do us a favour, k's and Lowestoft winning though.
Interestingly, Canvey beaten 6-1 at Harrow today, could be a battling performance looking for improvement from them on Tuesday

Abysmal. Absolutely abysmal. Especially 1st half.

What an opportunity we blew today to give us some daylight in the league. Poor from the off and caught napping twice in the open 15mins gave us a mountain to climb and we never really looked like getting out of base camp.
Our defending was absolutely shocking all afternoon, giving far too much space to the opposition in midfield and if you are going to play a high line you need to have a little pace at the back. All Horsham had to do was knock the ball long and run after it, far far too easy. I said it last week and I say it again you need to put pressure on the ball especially on a bumpy pitch, NOT as we did last week just step off and the let oppos shoot or pick a pass.
We could have had a couple more ourselves and probably a little unlucky not to add to Dundo's superb header, but we always looked all over the shop at the back.
MOTM for us of course big Kev without whom we would be looking at 4 or 5-1.
Really disappointed in a naive performance from a lot of experienced players.

A few things:
1. We haven't gelled as a team yet, which is worrying given the time of year. I feel we have done well to be where we are. At no stage have we looked like champions elect and put 3 or 4 wins commanding performances together. The league is a lot better this year. There are as we know, no easy games.
2. Our defence, so solid at the start of the year, now looks like conceding at any minute. We are consistently getting caught square and have a distinct lack of pace. AJ's return can't come soon enough.
3. We seem to be getting a message from the management that we need to go long and direct when we get on these sort of pitches. Even on pitches as bad as today there are more opportunities to get the ball down and make some passes. Horsham showed that, we did at times 2nd half.
4. When we do go long we do it with absolutely no quality. Time and again they turned us and hit the channels. We only seemed able to lump it to their 2 centre halves. BTW have seen Andrews play a few times and I think he is one of the best around at out level.
5. There is still all to play for in this league. We need to get the momentum going. The support needs to get going (poor today noise wise given the decent turn out, slight excuse is the ground and being scattered about). We haven't done too much wrong to only be losing 3 times to date and we are still thereabouts - no time to panic.
6. Other sides we have played that looked decent, Wealdstone, Billericay and Margate are all in free fall. Shows to me what a tough league this is and also worries me a little!
7. Jolly needs to score.
8. Well done to Horsham. So much better today than us. 2 early goals makes it easier to play but we didn't see it through vs Tooting, they picked us off and could have scored a few more.
9. One plus point from today. Great goal from Dundas following one of the few bits of class from us today from Tom Davis.

The first half an hour today so far has been the worst we've played all season. We looked utterly clueless - not just in defence, but all over the pitch. Add to the fact that we have had that idiot ref we had in our first game back in the Ryman at Harlow and also at Canvey, who did his normal performance, and it was always going to be back against the wall against an in form team.
A bit of perspective though - we've still only lost 3 times this season, all away from home. The difference is that unlike the other two (Kingston we didn't deserve to and Margate could have gone either way) be did deserve to lose. We need to up our game, and especially our defence - this is pretty much the same defence we started the first 5 games with and didn't let a goal in.
Positives from today - at least we didn't lose 5-1 which could easily be the case. A saved penalty and a almost comical potential own goal from Page. My MoM for me just was Dundas - looked our only player today who really ran his socks off for 90 mins, and kept battling away on a boggy pitch. Got a well taken and deserved goal.
We're obviously still top, and every top team has their 'blip'. This is ours and we need to drag ourselves out of it. Canvey got thumped today, and regardless of form, any team that lets 6 goals in a game has a defence that can be beaten and we need to do that on Tuesday. We also need to be water tight at the back.

Oh another thing - was KES's substitution a tactical one at 2-0 down or has KES taken an injury?

For anyone who wants to keep up to date with the latest scores in our league the following link is pretty good. It's a list of all the latest updates from Ryman Premier teams who are on Twitter. Although it's not looking good at the moment for Sutton. twitter.com/suttonunited/ryman-prem-relatedGood work, Simon, ta.

Rather than keep you on tenterhooks until I've had time to write up the interview with Dos (unlikely to be before tomorrow evening), KES had been suffering from flu during the week, thought he was OK to play but discovered after half an hour that he wasn't.

Probably the poorest overall performance I have seen this season (apart from Alton in the FA Cup).
However, every team in the league will have one of these days and Horsham's confidence would have been really high so a below par performance was alway going to put us in trouble. I am not going to get too down on it just yet and, I never thought I would say it, thanks to Tonbridge for their win today.
Hopefully, it will be a bit of a wake up call and prove that we need to try to play rather than lump it as I would rather see some football where the odd ball may hold up rather than over reliance on long ball which doesnt seem to suit us.
My MOTM goes to Dundo as he never stopped running and scored a lovely goal. Onwards and upwards and hopefully a win at Canvey.
We have some (potentially) winnable games this month and a very important away game at Bury so fingers crossed we will still be in a great position at the end of January.
